What sort of check did you do? Does the DVLA tax / MOT check tie in with it being off the road since 2018? Have you checked the VIN?

It depends on which gearbox you are using, if it is the long bell-housing R380 then copy a Discovery 300tdi, if it is a military stumpy bell-housing or LT77, buy a set from Steve Parker Land Rovers, they use two existing bolts to align them and save a lot of faffing about.

I used to drive an early 300tdi Discovery auto, it was one of the slowest, numbest things that I have driven. I note that you say that you need an auto, so you possibly have no choice, but prepare yourself for dissapointment.

The simplest method is to fit a split charge relay. That way ancliaries such as a winch will not flatten your starter battery. If you google split charge relay there should be plenty of info.

Assuming that your bulkhead hasn't moved. slacken all the fittings for the wings and front panel and see if you can realign everything. The bolt holes are slotted to allow for "production tolerances".
