Other what have u done on ur disco today

As I said in my last post, I'm a bit long in the tooth for rummaging about at the side of the road fixing wheel hubs, and judging by the repair report from the garage, I would have had trouble anyway. I don't have the kit suitable for breaking the locking goo that LR used to stick the hub to the...

Disco 2 First play with the nanocom

That sounds like a bit of a case of, "If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is". By all means plug it in and see what's what, just don't change anything! Download the various instruction sheets from the Nanocom website first.

    Disco 2 Engine tickover speed.

The Owner's Handbook actually recommends that your drive the vehicle straight after starting. It will warm up quicker when it's working under load:-

    New Discovery Owner

Many of the problems that occur on the D2, if you read the various websites fall into a number of general areas:- Chassis rust or rot Suspension, particularly the rear Electronics. The chassis tends to give out on the rear half, especially around the rear cross member. Other forum members have...

    Steel wheel nut protection

Tightening the wheel nuts will probably crack the paint away, but the fact that the nuts are tight should prevent to build up of corrosion at the point of contact. You can wipe a smear of copperslip or similar to the contact point, but although it has been discussed many times, my advice would...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

The plastic lenses on my headlights tend to go dull and get covered with a sort of brownish oxidisation and road filth over time, so I got out the Greygate plastic polish and scrubbed them up a bit. All nice and shiny again. Followed that with a quick polish with some wax to try to keep the muck...

Disco 2 Why is simple stuff not simple? LCD dash lamp

It's just one of those strange "Murphy's Laws", "A five minute job will always take a couple of hours plus those five minutes". Regarding your trouble with the LCD backlight, it's unlikely to be a short circuit, that would start blowing fuses or burning wires. It's more likely to be a broken...

My advice? Get somebody else to do the lifting, and you can then just do the grunting. :D

    Advice people on srs light

The usual place for the SRS to fail is the rotary coupler in the steering wheel; the connection to the driver's airbag. The next place to check is under the front seats for a troublesome connector to the seatbelt pre-tensioners. As @gemsdad has already suggested, get yourself along to the...

    Disco 2 Fault Codes (?)

One problem that you're suffering is that the icarsoft device isn't that successful in use on the diesel Disco 2. The advert says that it's compatable with the Discovery 2, but what they don't tell you is that they mean only the petrol D2. The diesel D2 wasn't ever fully compliant with OBDII, it...

    Short circuit on LED bulb

I think you can put it down to "Murphy's Law"; if it can go wrong, it will. It's electronics, these things happen, just replace the thing and get on with life. LEDs are generally quite robust but they can fail.

    D1 v8 es 1998 power steering leak :(

Three things are required, a degreaser such as Gunk or similar, and old clean paintbrush to get into the awkward bits and plenty of elbow grease. You should also consider a fairly large drip tray, unless you want to spend the following few weeks getting muck stains off the driveway/garage floor...

    Parasitic Drain (Not child related)

Generally there are only a few circuits left live when the vehicle is locked, for instance, radio, clock, central locking, immobiliser and of course the alternator. One problem with trying to trace a parasitic drain is often when a circuit is disturbed the alarm circuits might need 1/2 an hour...

    Disco 2 Fuel ecomomy figures

They average out at about 28-30 to a gallon, but if you're that worried about fuel consumption you should buy a Discovery, they're more than two tons and have all the aerodynamics of a housebrick.

    Discovery 1V8

Yeah, the D1 has solid discs all round as standard. I did get told off some time ago when I confused the D1 discs with the D2 which does have vented discs on the front :( . I'd also agree with @dieseldog69 regarding drilled and grooved discs. Once they get filled with mud and gravel they'll tear...

Ignition barrel removal Disco 2 TD5

I'm pretty sure that the pin which hold the gubbins of the lock in place in the barrel has to be drilled out with a Dremel type tool. There's plenty of videos on the tube but this one should give you some idea:- Personally, I'd replace the lock assembly complete.

    Disco 2 Climate control

As @Feathers McGraw has shown above, the climate control has a stand alone self test built in. Whether the climate control blows warm or cool will depend on a number of temperature inputs and settings to the system. When set to a particular temperature, the climate control will add warm or...

    Transmission brake disc or drum?

Converting the Disco handbrake from a drum to a disc is discussed on this thread:- https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/diy-handbrake-conversion.302578/#post-3780620 Paddocks do a kit, or used to do a kit for the D1. The link is given in the thread.
