Disco 2 Steering knuckle seperation - how to break the ball joint bond?

You're striking it in the wrong area, you really need to give the joint a good clout on the side of the joint. Ideally you need two hammers, one as an "anvil" on the back of the joint and then give the joint a clout on the opposite side, effectively sandwiching the socket part of the joint which...

    Differential drain plugs and Loctite.

Unlike the fill/level plug which is flanged and can be done up tight, the drain plug is tapered so that when it's fully in place nothing, or very little protrudes from the axle case which could be at risk of being struck and dislodged when driving off-road.

    Disco 2 TD5 Rave

@meego I'll upload a copy of the .iso for the Disco 2 Td5 to my dropbox overnight. It's a 600Meg plus file so it's going to take a couple of hours at my upload rate. I'll pm the link to you on the morrow.

    Tyre pump

Regarding connections to the battery as @norseman mentioned. What I did with mine was to fit a 12S (the grey one) trailer socket and OK, I had to uprate the fuse a bit too so that I can pick up 12 volts on the secondary trailer socket. Obviously an Anderson socket would be better, but IMO that's...

    Tyre pump

If the OP is still reading this then, It's a chunky little unit, very little plastic on it apart from the air intake filter/silencer, the yellow coiled air line can reach the full length of the Disco (just). The valve connector is a screw on which is a reasonable idea because you have to fit it...

    Tyre pump

As I said in my edit, the pressure gauge doesn't seem to be super-accurate but what I tend to do is over-inflate the tyres then deflate and measure with a separate pressure gauge until I hit the required reading.

    Tyre pump

While you two are arguing over, sorry, discussing who has the compressor, this is the one that I've got. It's a single cylinder but seems to do the job adequately. The pressure gauge doesn't seem to be as accurate as I'd like, but I tend to use an external gauge anyway.

Brake disc & fluid, which is best done first?

I would have thought that any reasonable mechanic would have cleaned any preservative off the surfaces of a new disc before fitting it.

Disco 2 SLS warning light ... on coil springs???

I'd agree with @AdamD1 there. You're going to need a compatable code reader to find out what's going on.

Disco 2 Brake Pedal drops to floor at idle

Immaterial of whether there's a servo or no servo, once the brake pedal is pressed to the point of the brakes being fully applied, the pedal should not continue moving down any further. If it does then that suggests that fluid is being forced passsed one or more cylinder seals. If it happens at...

    Rear air bags

The recommendation is that whenever you work on the ride height sensors you disconnect the vehicle battery first. There is a possibility that if the work on the sensors was done without disconnecting the battery, the SLABS ECU might "forget" the height settings, in which case you're going to...

    Grease gun issues

Yeah, I've still got my father's Tecalamit grease gun. The grease gun is still working well, but my father? He passed 50 years ago. I found that getting the grease gun end to fit on the nipples of the prop shaft U/J's was almost impossible, so I invested in some new grease nipples which were...

    Disco 2 Occasional immobilisation

I'm now outside my comfort zone, I don't do automaticals. From what I've heard, whatever has gone wrong, it's always the XYZ switch, even if the wheels fall off, it's the XYZ switch!

    Disco 2 Occasional immobilisation

I would say that having used the fob to open the central locking allowing you to get into the vehicle without the alarm going off there's little or nothing wrong with the RF receiver or the transmitter in the fob. This would then start pointing towards the starter relay, the solonoid sticking...

Aftermarket tyre pressure monitors. A bit of a warning.

A couple of years back I fitted aftermarket tyre pressure monitors to my Disco. There are basically two types; the ones that fit inside the tyre and replace the existing tyre valves and the screw-on type which just replace the normal valve caps. I chose the valve cap type, largely because I...

What have you done to your Landie today.

So, you've tried pressing the bit in the middle and come to the conclusion that it's no. Have you tried turning the bit in the middle? There looks like a small screwdriver slot on it. In which case it could be something like a control for maybe some dashboard lights .... or it might be for...

Discovery II | SLS Valve body issue?

TBH, with 5 year old air springs, I wouldn't even bother with the soapy water, I'd change them first as last. As @sierrafery has said, once you change them you'll know that they're 100% so you can rule them out of any further fault finding. Experience of the forum does suggest that the bags last...

    immobiliser problam

To gain access by using the key in the driver's door, you'll need the Emergency Key Access (EKA) code. That might be in the paperwork you received with the vehicle, but you'll probably have to visit you local LR main dealer with proof of ownership, the V5 clutched in your grubby mitt. The usual...
