Disco 2 D2TD5; upper left rear light cluster, position light failure

Not that I've noticed; are you thinking of the pre-facelift or post-facelift model?

Disco 2 D2TD5; upper left rear light cluster, position light failure

TBH, I never noticed if those were working or not; I never run on just side lights, I always go straight to position 2 and dipped headlights, which were still working. I dare say that had I noticed the front lights gone as well, I would have automatically checked the fuse first off. Bit of...

Disco 2 D2TD5; upper left rear light cluster, position light failure

OK, conclusion posting. It was the fuse. I decided to follow the circuit from the fuse box backwards, rather than disassemble things unnecessarily. First thing I looked at was fuse no 11 in the drivers foot well fuse box. It was blown so utterly completely and totally that it'sd almost a...

Disco 2 Wobble at steering wheel when braking above 50 mph

I had a similar set of symptoms on my D2Td5 a while back, so first things first, check the tracking. Came back fine. OK, check the wheel balance. Ah. "The balance, Guv, on all four wheels, is somewhere in the orbit of Pluto. Want us to fix it?" After they rebalanced the wheels, presto, no...

Disco 2 D2TD5; upper left rear light cluster, position light failure

Just a quick update. It's not the bulbs. It's not the bulb holder. Both have been swapped out or replaced, the same fault manifests. Here're the two wiring diagrams, off RAVE. As you can see, the left and right rear tail lamps are shown as twin single-filament lamps, and share each cluster...

Disco 2 D2TD5; upper left rear light cluster, position light failure

Ah. Missed this the first time around. Not on the pre-facelift D2s (1998 'S' - 2004 '04' plates); these have single filament position, stop, and reversing bulbs, see http://www.allbrit.de/UNI.cfm?PAGE=820006&SPRACHE=EN

Disco 2 D2TD5; upper left rear light cluster, position light failure

That was the first thing I did, with some switch cleaning spray. I'm beginning to think the connector may be a bit iffy, but I'll get a chance to have a better look at things on Sunday (next day off).

I got really odd readings that just were not consistent last time I tried :(

Disco 2 D2TD5; upper left rear light cluster, position light failure

As per the title, the rear left position light has failed. Now, this came back in the MOT as a dim bulb, and when I took it apart to see if there was something obvious, that's when it failed completely. It's not the bulb (replacement didn't work either), and it's not the bulb holder (got hold...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Last but one MoT on my Td5 required that I have all four ball joints (both sets for the front wheels) replaced. Couldn't do it myself, so sent for the mobile mechanic, who darn near defecated masonry, and took it to the workshop. They had to take an air chisel to one of them: They were the...

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Quick followup to the taildoor lock issue from the other day - the white lithium grease spray appears to have done the trick, as the lock (as at end of shift tonight at work) no longer jams in the locked position :) Many thanks for all the advice :D

Other what have u done on ur disco today

Dagnabit  Damn thing did it again earlier today, so, finished my shift, and thankfully having parked up my wagon in one of the bus sheds at the depot, where there was a bit of (a) shelter from the elements, and (b) light (at 23:45 at night!), I had to do it all again. I had to go in from...

Diagnostic tools - buy one or find a friend with one?

This brings up an important point - my machine runs Linux, NOT Windoze: Will it work with that?

Popped into the spares place by the bus station before I took over my first bus today (yes, I'm a bus driver!), and that's the brand they had
