    Right so 10 mins on my back with a wire brush, screwdriver and up and down to rotate the engine finally found the marks on the pulley....6 degrees ATDC to 6 degrees BTDC.....now where is the tipex?

    MOT requirements - lights??

    My S3 had fog lights and hazards from new. Centre panel in dash with switch's for both and a brake fail warning light. Only fitted with one fog light and no reverse. Autosparcs rear loom came with two fog light cables, one for each side.

    So got the back body back on, electrics sorted, tank reconnected and few final jobs to get the old thing moving after a couple of years. Blimey, you do forget how heavy the steering is and rubbish the breaks are....time for a sit down and a calming cup of tea.

    Take the outlet line off and then get someone to crank the engine with your finger over the outlet feeling for pressure.

    Are you sure the pump isn't doing anything on the engine. Has similar problem on mine and had to blow through the fuel lines and replace the in line fuel filter as they were blocked. Hadn't been running for two years.

    Diesels are really loud....i mean really loud. Usual checks...chassis for rust, rear cross member, front dumb irons etc... Bulkhead around door pillars and vents.

    Goes to show, always check the small things. Turns out it was an oversize fuel pipe into the carb that wasnt nipped up. Easy fix....phew.

    SO finally getting my S3 Hicap 2.25 petrol going after 2 years. New fuel tank, fuel pump (mechanical) and fresh fuel before starting. Started after blowing through fuel line from Tank to pump and fuel filter before carb. Dows start on choke but now petrol all around the base of carb and looks...

    Too tall

    Its a S3 Hicap so no room for the seat to go further back. Did the same in my 110 CSW.
