    4.6 vs 2.5 tdi

At the end of the day, the diesel is a bloke's poshed up Land Rover. V8s are footballers' wags' mobiles with the stains washed off the upholstery. G~

    Track rod ends

I should have done but time is limited to re-order. How do you know that your old ones only lasted 20K miles? G~

    4.6 vs 2.5 tdi

Diesel. It keeps up with traffic well enough. They can be a bit frustrating on long climbs. Clatter a bit when cold but so do most diesels, and it's only for a couple of minutes. G~

    Track rod ends

Lemforder it is then. There's only £4 difference. I think I had the long one done a few years back but it might have been the drag link - or both. Thank you for the advice as ever. G~

    Track rod ends

Need a short one for MOT next week. Island 4x4 do Britpart, Delphi and Lemforder in ascending price. Are Lemforder particularly good or are they all a bit rubbish? Thanks, G~

    Battery Problem?

Wammers' and Datatek's blood vessels bursting simultaneously. More helpfully (hopefully), these are prone to radio interference that keeps the security system waking up. The proper fix is to replace to RF unit just under the rear r/h window. I think Datatek knows of another fix using...

    Blood, sweat, tears and Guildford

Just North of Guildford today listening to Blood, Sweat and Tears as 150000 miles ticked over. That is all. G~

    Luggage securing points

I'm the Middlesex side of the river. What you savages do the other side is your own affair. I lock the doors when passing through. G~

    Luggage securing points

Thanks. I don't think that Rimmers are getting the business this time. I only really need one to secure the dog. There's a bit about it on the competition site. Loadspace Anchor Points and Tiedowns G~

    Luggage securing points

Bit wary of posting here for fear of Wammers saying that he's answered the question 300 times before. Is there a foolproof (seriously foolish person) way of locating these without lifting the carpet? G~

T'was a Range Rover (Sport I think) and he drove off in haste. I hope the tow bar damaged his valance/spoiler. G~

    Bumper mounting bracket

That's rather it. I would rather pay £80 for a cheap welder and learn how to use it than £60 for two little metal boxes. G~

    Bumper mounting bracket

A little while back someone ran into the back of me. Very little damage but this bracket (ANR2381 - Bracket - Bumper Mounting - Genuine Land Rover at www.rimmerbros.co.uk) shattered. £30 seems a bit excessive for a replacement. Has anyone found or made a reasonable alternative? Thanks. G~

    SO….. why do you…??

Straying a bit here but the 940 I had didn't go absolutely flat like the 240, which had a funny little angled piece behind the rear seat. (I think that's right anyway - it might have been the Mk4 Cortina estate. I'm beginning to forget these important details of my life) G~

    SO….. why do you…??

Had mine for 8 years now. Very little trouble to date, which surprises me because the build quality doesn't seem that good. I wish the load area was as good as my old Volvo 240 estate. G~

    Internal door handle release cable.

I ground down the cable side of the right-angle end bit until it would fit in the metal part of a small electrical terminal block and reconnected. Still OK after a year or so. G~ EDIT: Made a small notch to stop the terminal block screw from slipping
