    need help with trailer knowledge

Not quite correct. 3.5tonne braked combination, or an unbraked trailer up to 750kg Which means perversely you can possibly tow a heavier unbraked trailer than braked with a D2. Not going to happen I'm afraid. Even the most stripped out SJ (870kg Kerb Weight) is going to be over 750kg that...

Disco 300tdi - rebuild and repair

My 200tdi always had the single flash of the trailer light, the current 300 doesn't, the 200 had a bates towbar, this one has a genuine LR one so I suspect it may be down the way things are wired in. The white socket is for fridge, battery charging etc so shouldn't have anything to do with the...

    Sills, rot and the test....

That unfortunately is a time/space thing at the moment. It is my intention to learn to weld, but where I currently have to park, there is not a lot of safe space to work. Think oil saturated surface and cardboard, and next doors RRSport often parked within inches! (less said about the pizza...

    Sills, rot and the test....

My inners are rather a mess, and likely to fail. Given that the heap is a long term prospect I am considering a complete cut off and box section replacement. I am thinking its likely not much different cost wise from lots of patching, and should be much longer lasting and cheaper long term, no...

    Nuts :)

Closed off tops like that are unusual on nuts for steels, I think perhaps oriental/japanese as they are too tall for std disco ones which are open and when tightened sit fairly flush with the top of the stud

    Need some help please

+1 for this being incorrect I'm afraid. You plug the hole before entering water/mud to prevent crud getting in and causing damage. There is one on the clutch bell housing (as you pictured) and another on the timing belt housing. As Blue says, you do unfortunately have a choice of three...

    hazards lights help

I don't know the wiring/instruments in defenders but..... If indicators use the same green lamp regardless of direction, hazards should have their own warning lamp

    lights in bumper

I thought front foglights were to make chavvy saxos easier to see?

    help finding suitable light bar

Buy a roof bar and add lights. One advantage of that method is they can be mounted further back reducing glare, especially if you have a bright/glossy bonnet. Another potential advantage is I have seen a number of D1s with the front edge of the guttering torn up/twisted where a > shape is...

    help please

eurocarparts list totally different part numbers for clutch kits for the mpi & 2/300tdi. So I suspect that the flywheel would be different too. The mpi gearbox may be an LT77 or an R380 (the former more likely). I think the bellhousings are the same at the gearbox end, but will probably be...

    Fuel filter renewal

The screw at the bottom is a water drain. You can let a few drips out every couple of months to be sure there is no water from tank condensation in the system. Personally, the only time I have ever found water dripping from there was after being submerged above the filler cap in a lake.

Is a tax exempt 101, with PAS possible?

I am no expert, but I would think its the original chassis, just altered, rather than a new chassis different from original, so you should be able to keep the age and VRM. Then I looked, and my opinion is now uncertain gov site says "having the original or new and unmodified chassis"...

    new 300 Tdi engine ?

130-150k, that's Low mileage in my book :) at 127k the disco 300tdi I run now is the lowest mileage one ever owned, its under half the 260+ of all the others Even if you look at it by averages, 300tdi discos are all pushing a couple of decades old now, and at 12k a year puts the youngest on...

    Fitting r380 gearbox

Block, and therefore boltholes/lugs should be identical.

    Additional live connections.

I have been considering one of these for my aux battery setup, sits right on top of the positive terminal http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/fuses/photo/BDB1.jpg

What you got planned for your Landy this weekend

Find somewhere to mount aux battery for a couple of months, then add worklight and aux power sockets, one double on back of console (ign switched) and one double in load area (aux battery) Thats the optimistic plan! Realistic plan Clear some of the junk out the back

Free Land Rover Experience vouchers in return for your time on a student project

So, owners of new LR products are unlikely to be here. On a personal note I have never paid more than 500 for a car, in my fleet manager days, then things were rather different. For getting teams across Africa or Latin America, the usual choice was a Toyota Landcruiser. I would have gone for...

    Fitting r380 gearbox

I suspect you will be needing the bellhousing from a later V8/R380 combination such as a Disco

An arm rest. Anyone else's elbow hurt? lol

I'm the same tallness, but habitually have the seat very upright no matter what I drive. I do however find that when the springs go in the seat squab that can lead to a 2-3" drop in height.
