    Click click click....

Ah good points chaps. I didn't really look carefully at the solenoid as far as opening it up to clean the contacts, the new one isn't on exchange basis so I'll open it up and have a look. Good idea on the cable from the battery, I didn't know about the possibility of internal corrosion...

    Click click click....

I did, also tried a bumpy road to see if it was mechanically stuck. When I whacked it with the lump hammer it starter the car up but the motor sounded weaker than usual.

    Click click click....

Did a quick trip to the recycling centre yesterday, after all the work I have done, the Range Rover was running beautifully. Emptied the boot of rubbish and got back in, turned the key and all I could hear was the sound of the starter solenoid clicking! Had to get a push to get the RR out...

    Running a little rough

Lambda sensors and LPG filters arrived today, installed them, engine smoother than ever now. Also did the EAS valve block 'O' rings and compressor rebuild. It's like a new motor now. Thanks for all the info chaps.

    Running a little rough

I managed to buy some software and leads to cover every type of LPG system. Also changed the MAF today and ran the auto calibrate. The car runs smoothly now and has the power of an express train! on both petrol and LPG. LPG filters and Lambda sensors due tomorrow so will fit them and...

    Running a little rough

Thanks guys, I have found a few more specialists in the area, so going to try them first. I'll let you know what happens.

    Running a little rough

Right, I took it to an LPG specialist today on the off chance that they could have a look. They didn't have time to hook it up, but did say that I should probably replace all the injectors before they tune it. The car had done 70,000 miles on LPG before I put the new short engine in so still...

    Running a little rough

Ok, there is a specialist LPG place not to far from my house, what sort of price should I expect to pay for the trims being reset? When you say "fit a new filter", which filter? Consensus seems to be that if I change the MAF, original is the way to go, or is a Britpart or similar version OK?

    Running a little rough

4.6 V8 2000 Model Ok, regular contributors will know that I have put in a new engine from Turners and have sorted lots of little faults but I still have one big one! Before I take the P38 to a specialist, I'm hoping someone can help. From battery disconnected for 30 mins, runs great on...

    HT Leads & Coil Pack

Done It! What an awful job to do, getting the coils out was more difficult than putting the new ones back in for sure. I unbolted the mounting plate disconnected all the HT leads but still had to take each coil pack off the plate before pulling them out. I was able to put the new ones on the...

About to take the P38 plunge

I have a 2000 model 4.6 on LPG but have had a 2.5 DSE (BMW engine) previously. I have been towing the same twin axle caravan for ten years using a variety of cars. The Diesel was always sluggish and struggled on long hills, I did get it chipped but this damaged the auto gearbox as said in...

    HT Leads & Coil Pack

Thanks for the info. Just ordered the separate coil packs, much cheaper! Also the HT leads. The coil packs look difficult to get at, any tips for changing them.

    HT Leads & Coil Pack

4.6 V8 2000 Model Got some misfires showing up on the Hawkeye both on petrol and LPG. I had a look under the bonnet in the dark last night and could see some very faint arcing near the leads. As I haven't had the car too long but have replaced most of the engine! (Turner Short Engine)...

    Vibration when driving

You could swap front and back wheels to rule out the wheel issue - balancing etc..

    Vibration when driving

Is the car level when it does it? Just thinking that the EAS may be going bonkers and putting too much pressure in the air spring on that corner for some reason, then as you reach motorway speed, the EAS lowers and reduces the pressure just in time to smooth out at 60 mph. Just a thought!

    Central Locking going crazy!

Ok, I haven't checked the battery voltage either with engine running or not. I'll check that first, it may well save some time stripping door locks etc.. Your english is good enough, I know what you mean by alternator parts.

    Auto Gear Shift adjustment

When I move the gear shift on my 2000 P38 Auto into a gear, I have to move it back and forth slightly to select the gear and have the appropriate LED/ Lamp come on. So, I put it in drive and it shows neutral, moving back and forth gets it in place. It's a nightmare getting it into low range as...

    Central Locking going crazy!

Thanks chaps, I was wondering if something was sticking. I suppose I will have to go round each lock in turn and strip them. I'll let you know what it was when I find it.

    Central Locking going crazy!

When I operate the key fob, the locks open then close, then open again. This happens when I am either locking or unlocking the vehicle - it cycles through the process twice. Whilst driving the vehicle, the locks will sometimes open then close on their own, there is no pattern to this...

ABS comes on when I hit a pothole

Tyres - ah yes! I bought this vehicle about 3 months ago and the tread on the tyres is fine but they are not tyres that I have heard of! I will be replacing all four tyres within the next month and will be needing some that cope with mainly road use but as I live in a rural area that is prone...
