I just bought a 1997 Range Rover, Wont even turn over next day of sale.

Taking it in somewhere is not going to get him someone with dedicated p38 diagnostics. they'll put it on a generic diagnostics unit telling him it does everything for everything. we know that's B/S for range rovers. Its w hy many of us have our own. Besides this fella has just started working...

same here, from the answers to the questions I posed it seems to be drivers door lock as the key opens the doors by remove and starts the ignition, but the odd key shaft only opens the door.

Right lets all take a breather... On the other side of the pond, older cars, well yank tanks, are bit different. You can interchange parts from manufacturers, wiring is more basic, something like a Range Rover is a bit of an odd beast with parts than can be unique to the specific model, year...

well we got somewhere in understanding that the remote start was wired to the audio. when the audio got pulled it died. when the remote start was removed it wouldn't crank. now we've got somewhere. @AudioInstigator its helpful to know exact steps of what happened and the sequence and what...

not critisisin, trying to help you.. appreciate you bought it like that and its not your work. you are trying to undo other peoples. this is the main problem I have had with classic porshes and range rovers.. idiots over the years wire in phones, alarms, all kinds of electrical stuff to all...

that will diagnose nothing. you'll be wasting effort and cash and recovery to somewhere that cannot do anything.. diagnostics will tell you the modules. what you need to do is download RAVE, look at the wiring diagrams and trace the wiring. or put the remote start and alarm back in as it was...

oh fudge me,, the remote starter was connected to the stereo power ? that is unusual. so.... just to recap.. the remote starter was connected to the stereo power, when you pulled the stereo, with the remote starter wired to it, it died. you removed the remote starter and now it wont turn over...

I just bought a 1997 Range Rover, Wont even turn over next day of sale.

when did you remove it when it was cranking but not starting? I note you mention it was wired to ignition ? there is a main piece of advice with Range rovers. if its not working don't go doing other stuff till you have it sorted and working again. these are very complex, you'll end up with...
