    M51, Alloy v Plastic manifold?

Yes, there is that... depends which way your heat gradient is running.... the manifold will generally be hotter than underbonnet ambient, though, as it'll conduct heat from the head...

    M51, Alloy v Plastic manifold?

Would've thought a plastic manifold would keep charge cooler when subjected to a high-temp environment... Ally conducts heat alot better than plastic.

bit of advice on selling peice

Depends on where the water came from... if it is coolant, it will smell like it. It's possibly a rainwater leak. If it isn't a constant issue, the expense and hassle of changing the heater matrix (a sod of a job) won't be worth your while bearing in mind the vehicle isn't worth all that much...

    My new p38

I'm not so sure his VCU is good.... he is saying here he can turn the wheel by hand? I thought with an on-spec VCU, you need a bloody long bar on a wheelnut, and a lot of force applied over time to turn it at all... something like 90lb/f constantly applied for a minute will turn the wheel...

    steering wheel controls dont work

Diesel or petrol? Reason I ask is, the cruise control works differently in each. Having no radio there will not affect the cruise control buttons, they are on a different circuit altogether. Is the wheel original to the car?

    Best oil for 2002 4.4V8

+1 Rattle could be your VANOS... 'kin expensive to fix if it goes wrong... Search some BMW forums about changing your VANOS oil filter... it's a tiny mesh filter that screws into the VANOS unit, and apparently can prevent disaster if changed regularly...
