Hitting them how, exactly? Hitting them on the edge to kinda drive them round, or hitting them at 90 deg to the flat to 'spread' them, or something?? Sounds like a trick I could do with learning...

Have you tried powering the HU up independently yet? Connect some wires to the red, yellow and black wires coming from your HU itself and see if it will power up direct from a 12v source - like direct from your battery (red & yellow connect both to 1 wire, connect this to +12v, black one to...

It's actually 70.1mm for P38 / D2 and 72.6mm for L322. My modulars have centre bores of 72.6mm, so will fit L322 as well.
