    P38 Vibration..U/V joint looks culprit.

I wouldn't mess about trying to undo them... Cut them off with an angle grinder or bolt croppers. You'll be replacing them anyway...

    Brake failure.....nearly

You can check operation of the pump by grounding the pin opposite the thin one on the relay, with the ignition on. If it runs, it's almost certainly your pressure switch at fault. You can also rig a switch and some wire out of the bonnet and in through the drivers window as an emergency 'get you...

    Where do I start!!

Lambda sensors... And they ain't cheap either... LR decided to use the expensive ones!! If you have a multimeter, check the voltage between pins 24 & 25 (IIRC) on the EFI ECU (blue wires) and ground. They should show a voltage somewhere between 0.5 and 1.0v when running. Standing by to be...

    Dead P38 DSE

Real moral of the story... Don't ever forget the golden rule of dealing with fuel starvation... NEVER assume there is fuel in the tank, even if the gauge says so... :D

    Dead P38 DSE

Pump & level sender are one unit, are they not? Dont think you can replace level sender alone... The fact that it took a total of 92 litres to brim it tell me the tank was empty and the gauge (that was reading slightly over 1/8) was lying!!!

    Dead P38 DSE

Stand fast... Pump appears to be working fine... Except the one thing a pump really needs is... Fuel in the tank to pump out!! Looks like my level sender is lying... Put 10L in the tank, after a bit of a crank fired up and ran fine. Drove to petrol station... And it took 82L before the pump...

    LZ Rescue... Help!

Yes, stand down! Working fine now... As most vehicles generally do when you put fuel in them... !!! Level sender's definitely lying, as it's showing only 7/8 full after I filled it to shutoff. Thank you gentlemen... Sterling response, as always!! Now, cue the p**s taking... Go on, get it out...

    LZ Rescue... Help!

UPDATE: Put 10L of diesel in the tank and it fired up and ran... About to drive it home now, but it seems ok... Also... Not so sure it's the pump anymore... I filled the tank and it took 81 litres... Unless I have a magic expanded tank, or a secret compartment for extra fuel somewhere, it...

Nice one Ratty, cheers! Just putting a seat back in the Disco so I can drive it, go back to the P38 with a jerry can and top up the tank a bit, see if she runs...

    Dead P38 DSE

First thing I went for... swapped out the relay, and fuses all look good... I'm not that lucky! Some fuel is getting through... it's trying to start when I crank it, just seems like not enough. Gonna put the driver's seat back in the Disco, then go grab a jerry can full of derv and see if...

    LZ Rescue... Help!

Update - following some advice on here (awesome, as always :)) I'm going to try putting more fuel in the tank and see if there's enough in the lift pump to get it running and drive it home for repair... In contact with mhm via text atm...

    Dead P38 DSE

Yes, it's mostly air in there at the moment! I can see some fuel after it has been cranked and run... but not much.
  17. Clarky130

    Dead P38 DSE

yes, only 1 notch above empty... no fuel light on yet. Might it run if I put more fuel in the tank? I popped the fuel cap just to make sure it wasn't vapour locked... Come to think of it.... the cut-out occurred as I was negotiating a sharp corner at speed.... A clue perhaps?

    Dead P38 DSE

My P38 died this morning - engine cut out whilst driving along - no prior faults or warning... It will fire up again if you crank it for about 30-40 seconds, run normally for a few seconds, then die again. When it eventually fires up, there's no clouds of white smoke out the exhaust...

    LZ Rescue... Help!

My P38 has died - I think it's the lift pump, doesn't seem to be much, if any fuel getting through. It dies whilst driving along, and will eventually start again after about 30s of cranking, run for a few seconds, then die again. No clouds of white smoke out the exhaust when it fires up...

    lpg tank capacity

Fill valves should auto-shutoff at 80% - if it's doing any less, you may have the tank mounted at the wrong angle. Typically, cylinder tanks need to be mounted with the valves exactly 30 deg off the vertical.
