What have you done to your Landie today.

    Put it on charge!

How long does yours last... (battery)

This is probably more aimed at those of you that don't use your Landy frequently or take it off the road for long periods, how long does your battery last? I realise that a Defender battery with potentially nothing or only a clock draining the battery in theory should last longer than a more...

SP Panels - Rear galv door... issue

Update: These guys sorted it all out! SP sent me a new door before I even sent the old one back (I asked them to do this as I had binned the old box and that gave me packaging to return the old one) I knew I was not going to rip him off but he didn't know I wasn't so I was pleasantly surprised...

    Defender 90 MPI radiator needed

Re-coring is more or less as good as new. Post a picture of your radiator and let's see what it looks like. However, I think it may have been ESR2595. If I had my LR parts software installed I could check for sure but I don't have it on this laptop.

    Td5 starter motor connection

This is the "start" position feed which basically triggers the solenoid and gets the starter engaged and spinning. I've had this on a Disco and a Defender. The Disco I just used pliers to pull the connection off, cleaned the terminal on the starter and cleaned the connector up too, crimped the...

Fitting rock sliders to a 90 - washers on the bulkhead to chassis bolt, and torque setting?

I think you are over worrying. The bolt should go from the front to the back with the nut on the back, remove the nut, offer slider bracket up to the bolt, push it on, replace nut, bulkhead is going to sit their oblivious to all of this. Where you would run into a problem is if someone has put...

    Brake Pressure Differential Unit

I assume you mean the piston seals? If so, I'd be measuring them and getting some EDPM seals of the same size. Or look and see if TRW or Lucas etc. sell them.

    Led lights

What constitutes heavy duty? It might be that cheap Chinese wire with hardly any copper and a thick sheath... The load is going to be less than 5W on the LED sidelight so don't worry about it. If you are concerned get a meter across it while running in sidelight mode and measure the current or...

300tdi Injectors - word of warning!!!

Of course you can strip injectors. I've been stripping and rebuilding injectors on land rovers, tractors, generators, dump trucks and water pumps for decades. My friend has the pop tester for testing them and never had an issue yet. I did 8 300tdi injectors about 10 years ago on my Disco and...

    Time to galvanise?

If you are going to keep it then go for it, even to be honest if you are going to sell it one day it is still worth it especially if you do the work yourself. I'd bodge it through this MOT and get into it come spring or accept she needs to got VOR now and that is it - if it snows you will be...

    Defender low range?

Start simple. Get underneath first and have someone move the low range lever while you are under it and help move the linkage, a long flat-blade screwdriver to pry will work, you will probably find it is just sticky - the lever is not very good at overcoming the linkage when it gets sticky and...

You are a bit late to the party, he has bought a ramp!

    Two post lift.

What I would do it put in shear keys and allow for them where the post brackets will go - I would probably make it the full width between the flanges and go maybe even double the thickness at this section. I'd also create a rebar cage to sit in horizontally across the two areas. Then, if it was...

    Two post lift.

Diesel mixer and plenty of materials then. Will you struggle to get a lorry in with aggregate too? I have a commercial unit and when we took on the lease I remember the spec document of the unit stated that the floor was designed to accept garage equipment and in particular ramps (basically...

    Two post lift.

How big a slab are you going to pour? Are you sure there is no way to get concrete in, surely if you can get a car in you can get crete in? My slab was 6.2m x 5m and 250mm thick c/w reinforcing mesh, came in about 7.75cube - the lot was barrowed over by 3 guys in about an hour - the truck...

    Two post lift.

Nice one. Don't skimp here! Get this bit right or it could kill you. A few things to consider, use rebar and set your rebar in such a way that your ramps fixings will miss the bar or else you are going to be drilling for a while (like my installer who was on 1 hole for about 15minutes!) local...
