    Disco 2 drive binding knocking

The little gear lever that changes the hi/low gearing will move to the left and right if you have cdl

Center diff lock, it's in the transfer box.

    Disco 2 drive binding knocking

Some d2s are fitted with cdl, just didn't have the lever to activate it

    Disco 2 drive binding knocking

Is your transfer box fitted with cdl? Never experienced it myself but might be transmission windup?

Disco 2, can it be kept reliable off road?

Depends what kind of offroading you want to do, if you want to go bonnet deep in water/mud then any 4x4 wouldn't be reliable. If it's greenlaning then a D2 would be fine. You would be better off getting a Disco 1

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Thanks mate, if I had more spare time I would do. Plus I'm not set up properly to build stuff, doing this a bit at work and at my dad's driveway.

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Pretty much finished the rear bumper today, just need to knock up some recovery lugs and weld in place. Also mocked up a cardboard template for the front bumper to work out how much metal I will need, so hopefully I can get that cut out and folded up at work if I get time.

    Now sold

Thanks for the info, So would this be gross weight or what the trailer can carry? Will get some pics up, it's piled up with a load of crap at the moment. Been telling my boss to clear it off for months as we are having to work around it as it's in the way.

My boss/work has a twin axle 16.5 x 7 ft (5m x 2.1m approx) trailer that needs to go. Has a galvanised chassis. Some of the floor boards will need to be replaced as some have rotted. Used to be a box trailer for show use but we took the panels off. Got a picture of the plate (don't know what...

Finally did it--- should have posted this 30 years ago

As others have said, stick with the 200tdi, if its been looked after they will go on and on without issues. The injector pump can be tuned to give it a bit more oomph. Enough info on this site about it. Would imagine fitting a TD5 wouldn't be straightforward unless you are good with electrics...

    Canyonero's D2

Do you have 2 keys? Pain in the arse if you only have one and you lose it, (speaking from experience lol)

    Canyonero's D2

If you haven't already, I'd suggest getting a nanocom or hawkeye diagnostic tool, will save you money in the long run.

    Newbie intro post

Don't need to get it red hot, I used a plumbers blow torch, make sure you clean the hole out with a bit of fine sandpaper

    Starting problem - possibly fuel

First and easiest thing is to check the ecu red plug to see if it's covered in oil, if so clean it out. Other possibilities is the crank sensor or injector seals

Made my own at work, theres a picture of it on my build thread. Freezed the ball joint for a couple of days and heated up the knuckle just before fitting. Will take a look at your build thread

Hi welcome, I remember doing that job on mine, broke my ball joint splitter in the process. Heat and big hammer worked for me

D2 with ACE. Noise on start up.

My ace was deleted before I bought it, so unsure if they're supposed to make any noise. You could listen or touch the valve block on the offside chassis under the drivers door area (where the 8 pipes go into) when you start it up. Can't think of anything else it could be. Only other thing is the...
