The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

Here you go, I got my 4 year old kid to do a sketch (cough cough) for what I had in mind. The spacers will need cutting to the correct length as the body mounts won't be level. Once they are welded on using the old chassis as a template, bolt/clamp it down so it can't move then cut the section...

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

Just an idea as I've never done it, I would probably get 2 lengths of metal to run parellel with the chassis rails, flip the chassis upside down and tack tube spacers to the lengths where the body mounts are located so it can be bolted down. Just make sure the mounting locations on your new...

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

Looks like you had a fun day, brings back memories when I was at that stage of getting covered in crap. I saved mine for this reason, but reading up on it, it seems you are wasting your time as its too slow and wouldn't last very long,. Which is a shame as everything is there except an air...

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Thank you, that would be great. My set might be worn out a bit, sometimes the flare doesn't stay central to the pipe unless you get lucky (either that or it's just crap lol)

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Looking at your kit, looks like you can put a near enough flare using 1 of the 3 bits at the bottom left of the box (unless I'm looking at it wrong)

So a normal double flare works ok in the modulator then? Looked...

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

I've made new pipes and have new flexis, but had to use the the steel pipes that come out of the abs modulator to each wheel, as my Fisher Price flaring tool won't do the correct flare that goes into the modulator. Had to cut 3 of these pipes down as they were rotted out on the ends then flared...

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Thanks, hopefully the roofrack will be strong enough, all a bit of guess work. Need to alter the clamp brackets then I can trial fit it. Will take some pics when I get a chance. While you're here, did you make new brake pipes that come out of the abs modulator?

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Thanks mate, glad it's finished at long last (didn't get much time in December to work on it). Next thing on the list is the roofrack, which is almost finished

No probs mate, happy to help. My brake lines were rotted there aswell (to be honest, the whole brake line going to the back was corroded lol). That's some long forks on that forktruck

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Evening all, been a while since last update. However, I have been busy finishing off the front bumber which will be going for powdercoating next week so hopefully that will be back before next weekend. Also been making the roof rack which is almost finished, just need to alter the mounting...

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

The body on these is heavy on the back end, I removed the 2 seats in the boot and folded the middle row forward to get the balance point a bit more centered (couldn't be arsed to take them out). I had Jack's under the sills and right on the back where the 2 body/chassis bolts go. I cut a bit of...

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

Yeah, that should work lol. You didn't want to do it the sketchy way and use acroprops/Jack's then (like I did)

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

No worries mate, I had the same issue before I did mine, couldn't find anything online about lifting the body. Forgot to say (starting at the back and working toward the front), the back chassis/body mount bolts have captive nuts, the next 2 bolts have cutouts in the carpet under the middle row...

The Little Discovery That Could (financially ruin me)

This is how I did mine:- After removing the battery I started at the back of the vehicle, removed bumper so the lights and trailer plug can be disconnected, you will also have access to the air pipe for the air bag compressor (if fitted), then disconnect the air pump plugs/ hoses (might not...

    Can anyone recommend a company who could rebuild/repair a 1992 defender 90?

Hi mate, can't help with any pricing as I do all my work myself. Whereabouts are you based? If you're in or around Hampshire I've heard good things about Backyard 4x4, (never used them myself though). They might be able to help or give a ballpark figure for what you need Steve

    Scratching my head

Hi, welcome, sorry can't help with your question, might want to ask in the freelander section of the forum, someone there will more likely help you out. Steve

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Had a late start today but got a bit more done. Folded some sections up for the roofrack at work during the week and mocked it up today to see what it will look like, need to cut it all to size and then weld it up. Also got the front bumper mounts and winch plate tacked on.
