    death wobble

Hello, welcome. I had the 'death wobble' which was caused by a worn panhard rod bush. Like others have said, can be other things. Go round with a pry bar to check all the bushes on the front suspension/steering

    Disco 2 Things I wish I knew when I took the body off (99 D2 TD5)

I reused all the steering parts (pipes/pump and box) and transfered them to the new chassis. Probably could have left the steering box attached to not have to drain the fluid and transfered it over with the engine, but was easier just to drain it and refill with new fluid. Probably hasn't been...

    Disco 2 Things I wish I knew when I took the body off (99 D2 TD5)

Good write up, nice to have a detailed 'how to' instruction list, wish there was something like this before I started mine. Only thing I would say though, if you are doing a complete chassis swap then you would need to disconnect the 2 metal pipes that go to the steering box which would...

Land rover voltmeter - what am I doing wrong!

Searched all over for it and had no luck. Found the fuel gauge and speedometer I took out, thought it was with them. Doubting if there even was one now (was about 14 years ago I rebuilt it all).

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Been a while since last update, but I've been busy finishing off the roofrack, so that can now go to the powdercoaters next week (hoping to get it back by next Saturday). Today I finished cutting and welding the exhaust which is now complete and fitted. Did take a video of it but my kid was...

Disco 2 BCU & Cabin Fusebox Removal

Havnt personally removed the bcu but can't imagine it being too hard. As for the internal fuse box, Disconnect battery, then I think there's one bolt on the top of fuse box (10mm socket?) then pull it out and disconnect all the plugs. They can only go back in one way so you won't get them mixed...

    My 1989 90 V8 County

Nice work, what an improvement. Make sure you chuck a load of cavity wax into the bulkhead (through the top hinge bolts) so it won't rot out in the near future. I've repaired 2 bulkheads years ago (top sections and both footwells) and don't particularly want to do any more, lol

Still the best modification I have made

I did similar to my 90 as the spray jet was always blocked or just sprayed water under the wipers barely touching the windscreen. I had a T piece out of the bulkhead and the tube cable tied to the wipers which had some holes in to spray the windscreen. Did away with the rear door glass and...

A Frame ball joint bracket query.

Use some longer bolts/studding to line the holes up, gently tighten them but not too much, then hammer the ball joint in with a spacer that goes around the rubber boot. When the bolts get loose tighten them a bit more and repeat with hammer. Putting the new joint in the freezer over night will...

    Disco 1 Galvanised chassis for D1 ...

Looks like 'spanner monkeys' based in Newcastle deal with maer. Not sure if it's cheaper to buy from them (or if they would supply a bare chassis). Might be worth a phone call, see what they say. Probably only do supply and fit.

    Disco 1 Galvanised chassis for D1 ...

I have read quite a few posts on the discovery 2 page on Facebook using the maer chassis. Think there is a company that buy them in rather than getting it direct from Poland. Will take a look for you

    Disco 1 Galvanised chassis for D1 ...

Have heard only good reviews about maer, if I heard about them before I ordered my richards chassis I probably would have gone for the maer due to the price. Had no issues with the richards one, however they did have to replace a bracket which was welded on wrong after it had been galvanised...

    Returning Noob

Hi, welcome back Would recommend a disco. Up to you either d1 or d2. If you want basic then d1 (less electrics and robust 200/300tdi engines which are easy to work on), Or d2 if you want more refinement but at a cost with electrical gremlins (nice comfortable drive though in my opinion). Both...

    Discovery 2 4 inch lift

Hi mate , you might want to repost in the discovery section to get your question seen by more knowledgeable folk than me. But as your here I believe you will need- Castor corrected arms Wide angle props Extended brake lines Extended abs sensor wires Different arb links (think you use fronts on...

    Defender nut and bolt rebuild

I downloaded the imgur app, add photos to it from your phone gallery, copy the url of the image, Then press the little chain link icon (or whatever it is) on the top line (to the right of the 'A') and paste the text into the box. Now let's see that rust bucket, lol

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Thanks for that, it's the same as mine then. Don't have any problems with the kunifer pipe, think it struggles to to the steel pipe. I will make up new ones out of the modulator. Thanks again

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Thanks, I've made some gutter mounts for it, cut them out of some 100x50 aluminium box section and folded some 2mm stainless clamps with 8mm threaded bar welded on. Will need to take off the roof bars as they will clash with the new rack.

    Steve's disco 2 rebuild

Here's a sneak peek at the roofrack, still have some welding to do on it and trial fit it onto the disco
