    bugger, just ordered a pair

    Tow points

The ring looks better by far, I'll go for this. Thanks for advice.

    Tow points

that looks the best option, I'll order one and fit it next time it's up on the ramp. Not that I'll be expecting to be towed much but it's always useful to have one and this one looks a lot better.

    Tow points

Pic below of her. I had some electrical issue I was trying to solve and broke down round the corner, my brother towed me home, we had to loop round the bumper as there was nothing else to connect to safely. On the chassis, there is a threaded hole but nothing on that, I was thinking I'll knock...

    Tow points

I'm thinking standard tow points for recovery if I break down again, I don't offroad the old girl, use her for simple pleasures like taking my dogs to woodlands etc... So very unlikely I'll be pulled out of deep mud. Simple on road towing for when/if I break down again. I noticed a couple of...

    Tow points

After breaking down(had to happen soon), I found that I had no tow hooks on the front. Can anyone show Amy pics of where these should be and I'll sort it out. I have a 1985 petrol LR90.

    2.25 petrol rough idle

The books turned up. It is TDC static or under 600RPM with strobe. Nice to have a couple of decent books though, so I can have a good look at things. Fitted accuspark distro, leads and 3 pronged plugs. I knew this would not solve the issue but they needed replacing anyway. Have a new coil...

    2.5 Petrol Timing

This is what mine look like after going at it with a wire brush. I have another issue that I won't digress too much on here as I have a seperate thread for that. Just fitted new accuspark distro, plugs, wires and will fit a new coil when I send my ballast one back for a non ballast one. But...

    2.5 Petrol Timing

Just working through an issue with my 85 2.25. it was gummed up but a wire brush gently revealed it. Then marked the centre with a paint pen. Mine is meant to be TDC static but it's way off and I'm not sure if it's the fuel I'm using or something else. But I will endeavor. Just brought some...

    2.25 petrol rough idle

Whilst that is an area to look at, I had the problem when I brought the LR last year and brought a brand new weber carb...issue still there. I have cleaned it out anyway to make sure, it is not the carb, of that I'm sure. My next thing to check will be the valve clearance, because at the same...

    2.25 petrol rough idle

Accuspark means new distro, cap, coil, plugs, leads.....£109. Well worth it. It's the 45D. It won't solve the rough idle but will satisfy my 'what-if-it's-that-shonky-bit' thought.

    2.25 petrol rough idle

I agree with all of that, but the electronic pickup is mounted such that it cannot rotate no matter how much vacuum you put on it...very odd. There's a brass pin that rotates, so maybe there's something missing or it advances a different way but the little red sensor will not move even with a...

    2.25 petrol rough idle

So, getting back to the rough idle issue (after a bit of tinkering with some shody wiring). What distributor should go in the motor. I tried a brand new one (made of chinesium), but the rotor arm had a massive gap to the pickups in the cap, whilst problem solving I decided to refit the old...

    2.25 petrol rough idle

That's a single choke weber. Not sure mine has that. I will have a look though. I remember my old singer has a brass gauze hidden there on a twin setup and that caught me out once. Image below showing new carb next to old one. Had to fit a new carb, I find carburettors quite perplexing...

    2.25 petrol rough idle

Wait, for petrol there's another filter? There's one at the pump and there's a tub in the engine bay on the bulkhead....not had that apart yet, is that the one you mean. I have a haynes book of b'llocks but not a petrol one, so it's useless for this issue.

    2.25 petrol rough idle

Popped my 1985 LR 90 2.25 petrol to my brothers house round the corner to tune it up as it was running rough on idle. We set the timing first, plugs looked clean, so a spark was good. Cap looked loose fitting and the rotor arm was all over the place so... 1 new distro cap. Not fixed One of the...

    First wash of the year

Difference is, my tesla has done more miles than my 90 already. But I know what you mean. I do however aim to keep the T for 10 years, 5 years in and it's all good.

Rear Head Lining Bowing - Re-securing options

I'm watching this as I have the same issue in my 1985 LR90. I'm told to take it down and fix a cardboard/wood backing to it so it holds itself in place, but will watch and research a bit more before tackling it.

    First wash of the year

Indeed, I have kept her as close to original as possible. She is the petrol version, so a bit gutless but perfect for what I use her for and quite/less rattly. Hate the idea of a snorkel as I don't go deeper than half a metre of water, don't want a winch. In some ways, in keeping with the...
