    P38 DSE Airmass/MAF craziness.....

Wammers, Are you talking about the early early EDC. On the diagnostics, you have the choice of early EDC & late EDC. Both the engine i'm discussing here come under the late EDC on diagnostics. The early EDC doesn't require an EMS code, & these are commonly known as pre preduction edc.

    P38 DSE Airmass/MAF craziness.....

It wasn't a typo. & nothing show's up on diagnostics either. The MSU is indeed a MSB, I got that part wrong. I've seen the 96 models with the MSB ecu & the noticable difference is very slightly higher revs on tickover. Place the AMR into the later engine & it can drive not as good as it...

    P38 DSE Airmass/MAF craziness.....

I might be able to throw a bit of light on these diesels. The 2.5 diesel came in two versions. 94 to 98/99, then from 98/99 to 2002. The later engine had the egr's & the maf. The pre-98/99 diesel didn't. The EDC for the earlier engines started AMR. The later engines started MSU or similar. The...

    P38A Bye Bye P38

You will realise that the P38's are a walk in the park compared to understanding these D3's. A completely different ball game & the learning is fun.

    P38A Bye Bye P38

Martyn, what have you done. I've had one for 6 years. I've never owned a vehicle in my life that has cost as much as my D3 keeping it on the road. It's now wanting, cambelt, both front airbags, front lower arms, rear lower arms, tyres, brakes all round, dodgy suspension pump I rebuilt a year...

    P38A Towing with a diesel

The diesel's ain't good for towing though, unless they've had a chip or two. I've had a diesel for over 12 years, & I've never had it as a towing vehicle, although I have dragged a few things. The diesel's do struggle if the tow is heavy.

    Using my Blackbox Modules

If your check engine light is on when key in position 2, then the GEMs engine ecu is linked to the becm. If the car starting?

    radius arm bush tool

Jubilee clips are the important tool here. A 10 ton or 20 ton press helps, but so does a big vice. Slightly chamfer the bush edge, plenty of washing up liguid & keep those jubilee clips at the right distance. The clips stop the bush from expanding when you apply pressure when inserting. I have...

    What else.......BeCM issues

Jesus, this tread has been dug up. Replace the fusebox if it hasn't been changed in the past five years. If the fuse box goes faulty it will turn the car very bad with all sorts of problems arising.

    P38A Airbag deployed

This is the first I've heard of this. Never ever seen one go off on it's own accord. A bit like my girlfriend. A damned good idea though. Rig a switch to blow the bag on the seat they're sitting in.

    P38A Cleanest one out there???

That car has been totally steamed cleaned. Most of them would turn out like this if you're brave enough to steam your's. These traders don't give a Sh*t as long as they sell it.

    P38 Dashboard Disaster

This is shouting Becm. You may of fried it. Is the SRS light on? Jumping a dead battery on the vehicle should never be attempted. Always disconnect battery from the vehicle. Fingers crossed it is just a fuse.

    Diesel Performance Box Chip

Wammers is again spot on. It's how you drive it. if you want a racing car, then get one. Range rovers are not made to be driven. They're made to take you places. You're mean't to drive them like the queen is sitting in the back. To get good economy, read the road. You don't want to be...

    range rover p38 4.6 1996

If you have the gems engine, check the flex plate. The crank sensor usually shows some sign of damage scuffing etc, if this is the case. These engines run like they're out of timing when this flex plate cracks.
