Sad Update on above. All was well and I went on 2 week hols. Returned to find windows/sunroof/mirrors : centre console is dead ! I have opened up but not removed : sprayed WD40 inside and ran a dehumidifier overnight which removed about 1/4 pint of water. Before I look for a new unit does...

Almost certainly but all lost in the arrival in warm sunshine, with dogs barking, running to meet car, hosts standing with drinks etc etc.... Car is usually garaged.....occasional beep for sunroofs, keys etc not viewed with alarm.......never again !!!

I have now fitted a new lower tailgate : there were various places where bi-metal reaction had fused stuff including, surprisingly one of the bolts for the rear light cluster. I'm about to scrap the original : anybody needing hinges or the top plastic strip....or anything else off it for that...
