10 th anniversary bash who is going thread

Its a weekender that is now in its 5th year run by a group of DAF enthusiasts in Colchester. The format over the last few years has been. Fix up a project over the course of the weekend and a trip out. With lots of fun and banter in between. We have a lot of fun. Matt and Pete who run the event...

10 th anniversary bash who is going thread

Considering this at the moment and thinking its not all that far and could be good dry run for my DAF weekender in Colchester later in the year. Would a youngster who with a D1 be welcome?

Unable to Open Rear Passenger Door

With the door card off you can see the latch mechanism there should be a rod running vertically down from the outside handle. Its not all that easy to see but look closely and shine a torch in you should be able to see it, right at the rear end of the door not near the inner handle. This had...

R380 Gearbox gearlever not self centering.

Had this problem on my new to me 300tdi Discovery and thought I might as well document how I repaired it. With my car I new it was going to be a selector lever problem rather than gearbox internals because I could still find all the gears and once found they engaged normally. It was a pain...

    Neurotic central locking

My new disco has some issues with its doors which have gone from being mildly annoying to being an utter pain in the backside. If you lock using the button on the remote all the doors lock and then unlock themselves again straight away. If I then open the door and shut it again 9 times out...

    Bought another Disco.

Yeah I think ive really fallen on my feet with this one and have come to the decision im not going to break it im going sort out the issues and use it as I think id struggle to get a better D1 than this could be with a little bit of work. As for the auto we will see how much it takes to get...

    Bought another Disco.

photos as promised and as you said I think you're right it is too good to break. Im seriously considering breaking the other one now as this looks to be a much better car if less pretty on the face of things. ust keep the manual and get mum to drive, much easier. As its so nice today and I...

    Bought another Disco.

The problem is I am awaiting surgery on my left foot. That is why I went for an Auto in the first place. As soon as I have the opp thats me off driving manuals for 6 months.

    Bought another Disco.

At last I have a disco that is actually reasonably pleasant to drive! Ive done about 60 miles in this today since picking it up and it didn't miss a beat. Started first time every time with no excessive cranking. Sounds really sweet and tappets are silent even with windows down. She pulls...

    EDC Injection pump replacement.

Well I will get to the bottom of it eventually. I do know that the old pump was faulty though, I had it tested and it wasn't able to deliver anywhere near enough pressure at cranking speeds which is why it wasn't starting at all. Thankfully I now have another car to use so this one can go...

    Bought another Disco.

After the utter disaster that was my purchase of an auto 300tdi that was supposed to be imaculate and in fact has a fair amount of rust as barely runs with a lot of coaxing into life :mad2: I've now gone and done the sensible option of buying another one albeit a manual this time for 1/4 of the...

Hi/Low selctor jumps out of hi range

Thats exactly what mine does. If I put mine back in high drive it forwards a cars length and then give the lever another tug its fine.

    EDC Injection pump replacement.

hmmm it doesn't keep the diesel in the tank very long though as its doing sub 20mpg and I need it for work.

    EDC Injection pump replacement.

This cars just weird! I thought id killed it completely just now and then suddenly it was seemed to be running better. I jumped in the L200 to get hay and straw for the sheep as we are just starting to Lamb now and the bloody thing blew its turbo not wanting to risk it running on I did what...

    EDC Injection pump replacement.

The only adjustment i've made to this pump is timing via the gear position. The pump flange has never been off with me, and the nut that holds it on hasn't been loosened. As such the pump flange should still be in the right position relative to the pump internals.

    EDC Injection pump replacement.

Pump is a second hand unit off the bay. Ive had it turned all the way clockwise it took an age to start and sounded really rough when it did as if there were ball bearings in the inlet. It seems to sound sweetest and run with the most power about mid way between each extreme of adjustment but...
