Had my Classic done last year by a local guy, excellent job & included re-building part of the shell that had been bodged by someone in the past .. £300 all in. Happy bunny !

Refreshing to read a Classic thread for a change, especially one about a resolved issue .. virtually every post these days is about the late models with just the occasional P38 enquiry. RRC's seem to be a forgotten breed, but in years to come so will the newer stuff & they will be a dim memory...

Spinning or turning? I was in Norway in the 'nineties, riding shotgun in a Unimog piloted by an experienced off-roader .. even that, with it's X axle locks wasn't un-stoppable.

VCU .. a potentially expensive device for locking the centre diff, originally conceived for the benefit of owners devoid of off-road driving experience or those that have but can't raise the energy to move a lever ;)

People need to understand that cars, just like all else, are disposable items these days. Technology is such that components can be designed to last for a specific period of time. I have a RRC that is 36 years old & BMW at 25 .. so I guess I'm bias :rolleyes:

Thanks guys, think I'll stick to adding the stuff to the tank as I'm not into injector removal etc. Not a mechanic, no proper facilities, poor close vision .. how long have you got :rolleyes: Appreciate the advice though.

Under-priced I would have thought, for anyone with a real use for it. I have one in a hard backed file & in pristine condition, covers V8 classics up to/inc. the 1988 MY but I'm not in any hurry to sell it. I don't work on cars now, but it's nice to know what makes them tick ;)

Tesco Bank ins. was very competitive for our BMW daily driver this year, but then the theft risk of an old car from a semi-rural location is insignificant, compared to a modern RR in the suburbs/city. People are not likely to move to a different post-code just to reduce their car insurance...

£157 fully comp. for my 3.5efi Classic, SD&P only with £20K agreed value with Lancaster, up from £134 for the past 2 years. 3000m PA, parked on drive out of town in Essex. I shall be 79 next year, so I'm bracing myself for a premium hike any time now :rolleyes:

Still a few around in this part of Essex, prefer the hand wash method myself & avoid jet washes like the plague :eek:

Definitely a miss-fire/loss of power, sometimes accompanied by a slight 'pop' from under the bonnet. What's got me is that the problem never occurs when the engine is above 1500 RPM, cruising at the legal limit or even through-the-kickdown hard acceleration .. which is surely when both the fuel...

Generally the same appearance.
