    I take your point, but then on the other hand the car is taking up floor space at a small but very busy garage, only the owner of the business is familiar with older motors & he's there 3 days a week.

    Thanks for that, I'll suggest it to the garage next week. Their guy who does 'proper' motors only works part time, fortunately the Classic is a second car so I don't need to put pressure on him .. then of course the place will be shut down over the holiday period.

    The RV8's old oil pump design doesn't appreciate 'slippery' engine oil. + 1 on the zddp requirement as well.

    1998 3.5efi ? o_O With you on the 20w/50 though, the venerable RV8 does date from the Ark & needs a mineral oil.

    I'm fortunate in that respect thanks to a previous owner retro-fitting genuine LR anti-roll bars. I'm a steady (but not necessarily slow) driver, but the Classic will corner on rails if pushed. Unlike the first (2 door) RR I drove decades ago .. I think that took the paint off the wheel arches...

    I can only endorse your research on standard springs : Yes V8 RHD are the same both sides. You quote the colours .. does this indicate you are seeking genuine item(?) if so I doubt they are still available, no idea what colour codes aftermarket suppliers might use. nb. don't be too surprised...

    My thoughts also, thank you for the suggestion. I'll check how the lights respond tomorrow .. no problem with the starter circuit though, engine spins over as normal.

I'm not totally sure that the pump is at fault, but likely .. tried 2 used FP relays today but still just cranking over. Tomorrow I will get someone to lift the AFM flap whilst I am at the back of the car & listen...
