    Brakes issue

Could be a vacuum leak. Servos can get hairline cracks in them. So no not normal. Could be fluid related if contaminated with water or air or a small fluid leak. But it would probably feel slightly different.

Low Rev Throttle Response, at a loss now!

So if I’m reading this correctly. You had a major running issue that your are trying to solve with a performance remap? Sorry to say it and not trying to be a dick about it. But I think you need to focus on repairing the fault as opposed to modding. A completely standard vehicle should run and...

    Life expectancy of galvanised chassis

I’m For many years there was only real 2 choices. Plenty of people have them and I’ve not personally seen anyone claiming rust problems. But remember galv is sacrificial, so if you expose it to high corrosion environments it will eventually rust through. Just look at galv farm gates. Also...

    Life expectancy of galvanised chassis

How long is a piece of string….. Must be a million factors that can massively impact this. There simply will not be a single answer.

Which side steps? There are multiple types?

    Discovery 1 4inch lift

33’s sound way too big for laning. No wonder 4x4’s get a bad rap. That said, I ran 33’s (measured about 34” tall) on a stock height a Discovery. So you most certainly do not need 4 inches of lift for such tyres. +5” shocks on +4” lift means only +1” of increased droop from stock. Doesn’t sound...

    Discovery 1 4inch lift

Curious why a 4” lift? No saying don’t mod. But sounds like it is now rubbish on road and I bet it won’t flex for **** off road either.

    110 pick up advice

You may wish to re-Google this. I think you’ll find your facts are out of date.

    110 pick up advice

Yes. Although a Land Rover is a very SIMPLE vehicle and about one of the easiest vehicles to inspect. If you can’t inspect it yourself, then frankly more fool you for not putting in any effort to learn anything about vehicles and mechanics. The fact that every single item on a Defender is...

    Wiring question

An Earth is an Earth…. Doesn’t matter which or where it is really. Why not wire it in to the side light circuit?

How to: de-ASBO my old V8

Depends how badly dented it is. I’d have thought it should be fairly easy to straighten. Not that it’s hard to find a used one. The Puma ones are a lot heavier, I think they are steel skinned.

How to: de-ASBO my old V8

Bonnet is personal choice. But in my own view I’d say no. The bulge is only there as the Ford Puma diesel engine is so tall. Also don’t see why you’d want to make a classic look modern. As for the body changes. All the answers are on the .gov site. It is very easy to read and understand.

How to: de-ASBO my old V8

I assume you are not just meaning a V8 rumble? In that case no. There isn’t a huge amount you can do. Don’t get me wrong. Some sound proofing and checking all seals and panels are in good order etc can help. But ultimately it is a modular body that is bolted together then mounts metal to...

    R380 stumpy

I would imagine you will be way above the specs of the R380 too. Land Rover wouldn’t use the R380 behind a 4.6 Rover V8 only the 4.0 due to the torque. They are rated for 380nm or 280ft-lb. Not sure what an LT-77 is rated for. I’d suspect quite similar.

    Steering wheel gone off centre

Could be anything. Bent steering/track bar would be a place to start. Also check the hub flange bolts are done up. Have seen them come loose before. Steering arm track rod ends/adjusters could also be loose. And maybe check the pan hard rod. If a bush has failed the axle may have moved. Change...

    Spare wheel...

Wouldn’t worry if it isn’t a problem. Putting it on a roof rack is not great. Very heavy to lift up/down and causes body roll.

    R380 stumpy

Nope. Its purpose was to offer a warranty replacement for the LT-77 after LT-77 production stopped. Ie if your 200Tdi Disco needed a new box the stumpy R380 is a direct fit (mostly) for the LT-77. Ashcroft transmissions has info on their site about the box. With the right bits you can...

    Freelander 1 advice

The 1.8 K-Series is perfectly tunable. Later versions had 135hp and of course the VVC variants with either 143 or 158hp. Lotus and Caterham also offered non VVC 190hp versions too. More power will generally be at higher revs. But tuning will also generally improve low end performance too, just...

    Freelander 1 advice

Maybe read up on engine tuning. Anyone saying a remap can’t give power clearly knows nothing. But it is more complex than just a map. Also depends what your end goals are and what sort of budget you have. Only you can say if it is worth doing or not.

    Advice on Tyre choice please!

With the spacers they might rub the inner rear wheel spat under flex. But as said, a lift probably wouldn’t solve this unless you limit flex. They might also rub the front radius arms under lock. However lots of people run this size or similar. Some will say no rubbing others do have some. My...
