    Top 100 green lanes

As far as I know the classifications should be correct. It would be down to the council to put signs up if it has recently changed or has a TRO. Maps can only be so up to date. That said I’ve never seen it showing this incorrect. The info and comments from others varies from time of year...

Other Discoveries 1 to 5 off roading

Traction control is a game changer. Keeping all 4 wheels rotating makes a huge difference. The D3/4 and newer models do this so well with so little wheel slip or spin required. The D2, Freelander 1 and Td5 onwards Defenders all very capable in this regard. Just a bit more wheel spin and engine...

ACE Roll bar too stiff for off road

Looks interesting. As said, I’m not an expert or owner of a D2. However I would probably start at looking at longer shocks. I’m pretty certain you’ll see some gains here. On a Defender/D1 you can go +2” and not worry about too much else. If you want to go +5” then generally you need to...

Series 3 Engine out top or bottom?

No idea how you think you’d take it out from underneath. The front axle is in the way and you’d have to lift the chassis up way in the air to clear the engine once out. Nothing is impossible, but that sounds like a really difficult way to remove an engine IMO. No offence, but if the vehicle is...

Is it possible to renew the front springs...

The Britpart Celluar Dynamic shocks are pretty good and not a huge amount of money. Go for some HD galv turret rings. They should last and be no bother in the future. I also like the open turret style. The Gwyn Lewis ones. As they make access so much easier and don’t trap dirt.

    A question of gearboxes

    5 speed TR7/8 uses LT-77. Jag XJ40 and X300 used a 5 speed Getrag.

    A question of gearboxes

Don’t think Jag make any manual boxes. Certainly not of this period and not fitted to Land Rovers that I’m aware of. 12j, 19j & 200Tdi all use the LT-77. Across Defender, Disco1 and RRC including the VM diesels in the Range Rover. I think the Disco and RR might use the LT-77S for the V8’s...

Is it possible to renew the front springs...

I would think quite challenging tbh. As you need enough movement (flop) of the shock to give enough room. You’ll want to lift the chassis from the axle. But depending on the springs length and rate they may still be a tight fit. Could try spring compressors, but they can be a pain and may reduce...

    A question of gearboxes

Not sure how you are going through gearboxes? Ok there is an industry (Ashcroft mostly) rebuilding them. But plenty last just fine. We have several LT-77s well over 120 or 140 thousand miles. And R380’s with even more miles on them. Tdi’s don’t make that much power and the 200 was supplied...

Other Discoveries 1 to 5 off roading

And the douches that run the channel wanting to get all views and big up the places they go (even when the lanes don’t look to be in a state to drive) and then wanting to keep locations all secret secret. It’s no wonder 4x4’s and off roaders get a bad rep in the U.K.

    Tyre Change

Personally not into alloy wheels on a 90. They usually look wrong unless it is blinged up one. Or at least one with metallic paint and body coloured roof. There are lots of steel wheel options out there. Most common are 8 spokes or Modular. Usually available in white, black or silver. These...

    New defender

Probably nothing at all. Let’s face it the same components have been used for years with a 4.4 TDV8 and up to 575hp with a supercharged V8. Loads of people have already modded and used the new Defender in anger. Think this is a 5” lift on 37’s but retains the full standard suspension...

    New defender

The 2.0 litre engine makes more power than any factory fitted engine fitted to a traditional Defender, Range Rover classic or p38, Disco 1 & 2.

    New defender

Should be fine depending on how it has been lifted. People have been messing about modding D3’s and L320’s for nearly 2 decades. There are also many ways to lift a vehicle.

So your issue was packing and delivery? Did you buy direct from Britpart or another retailer?

    Radiator options

Don’t think you’ll get a new brass end tank one. Not cheap or easily. All new rads for all cars are plastic tanks these days. You could probably get you rad re-cored though. All aluminium ones are ok. Depends who makes them really. Probably no better than the plastic tanks ones for the most...

    Tyres

Black round ones. Must be 1000’s of tyre sellers and retailers in the country. Vehicle also typically come with a multitude of wheels sizes these days. And you haven’t provided any details or wants.

    Top 100 green lanes

No is the simple answer. Although there is a comments section where people post updates and images. But is inconsistent. The search facility is very very poor. But this is likely down to the lack of incentive and U.K. attitudes to laning. Wanting to keep it hush hush and not tell other 4x4...

Disco 1 disco 1 removal of abs sensors.what do you put in there place.for mot.

No. It is perfectly legal to remove so long as you conform to the rules. Ie fully remove and let your insurance know. At the end of the day there are still plenty of cars used daily that do not have ABS.

Original Radio or one that fits?

Am I the only one that hates the term “OG” and how people use it/miss-use presently. Seems to be in the past 6-9 months it’s taken as a horrid trend!!!!!
