    Series 2 205/55/16 tyres on S2 1965?

205’s will fit the rims fine. But they are a short tyre and will look lost in the wheel arch. Plus make the overall gearing shorter for road use. Ie a lower cruising speed. But should make the steering lighter. A 7.00 is not the same size and should be about 30” tall, but more likely just...

Classic Turbo D and former L322 owner

What makes you think the VM is woeful? Is it a 2.4 or 2.5? The 2.5's easily out perform Tdi's stock for stock. In fact you'd need a stoutly modded Tdi to match the stock 2.5 VM.

    New MOT regs re diesels?

That would have been something wrong with the engine then, not the test..... ffs

    101 9.00-16 tyres

33.1” but still an inch short and likely more compared to many 9.00’s, which as said, they can go as tall as 37”. A 255/85 can be used but it’s a bit like putting 205’s on a 90…… If you look up the specs. A 255/85 is shorter than an 8.25 x 16, which is the size down from a 9.00.

    1987 defender wing

Technically there is no such thing as an 1987 Defender..... this may be your issue. The Defender didn't exist until 1990 with the introduction of the 200Tdi engine. Before that there was a Ninety (not 90), One Ten and 127 models. Not sure which part of the wing you are needing, inner, outer...

    101 9.00-16 tyres

In the UK the Peltas have been impossible to get for years.... unless you know of a supply. I don't think there is any such size as a 285 r 16, do you mean 285/75R216? If so, it is no where close to a 9.00 x 16, way too fat and way too short. They are well under 33".

    101 9.00-16 tyres

Not much in the way of 9.00 x 16 these days sadly. And bar grips are terrible tyres really. If you plan to use the vehicle you'll probably want something that is 70 or 80 years newer. You might find 9.00 x 16 at some agri tyre suppliers. But a quick look and pickings are slim...

12-24v lights. Does input voltage change output brightness?

Most LED lights will use a driver board. This driver may be a linear driver, a boost driver or a buck driver. Or a combo of all 3. The driver is there to ensure the LEDs receive the correct voltage and amp draw. As a rule higher volts will draw less current at the driver. There may well be...

12-24v lights. Does input voltage change output brightness?

LEDs need various voltages. Depends on the LED in question, how it’s wired and what kind of driver.

    200tdi Defender alloys

Yet people have been running wheel spacers and deeper offset rims for something like 60 years and millions and millions of miles with no real issue from any of them.

Defender Wolf as a first Defender project?

No probs. Certainly not against ex Mil. But years back they were popular because they were cheap. And while likely having had a hard life we’re normally well maintained. You see lots as trials motors or weekend warriors type of thing. Earlier models usually had no power steering and a non...

    Defender 300tdi cat ?

For some reason I have a memory about different specs having a cat. Eg a hard top didn’t. I had an L reg hard top without. But I have a feeling a CSW might have. Not sure if related to how they were registered too. On a similar thought train. Could a Disco 300 be had without a cat?

Series 3 LWB in Buckinghamshire - Front Springs

If the springs are not rusted solid. There are still lots of options on spring rates. Period and more modern setups. If you don’t need or want a lift. Just run standard shackles. You might also want to try taking a couple of leaves out of the spring packs to lower the spring rate. No need...

Defender Wolf as a first Defender project?

If you want it because it is ex Mil. No probs. As for basic. Well all Defenders are basic. There is no difference here. Nor is there really any difference in how they work or maintaining them. The difference is. Generally a non Military version will just be nicer on the road and to trundle...

Defender Wolf as a first Defender project?

Depends what you want. There is nothing wrong with a Wolf. But generally they are basic spec and may well lack things you’d perhaps want. I haven’t checked prices recently, but in the past they have been expensive. I accept that they are likely to retain this premium when you come to sell. But...
