    BFG tyres alternatives

Slightly confused, KM2 is an MT, but the last sentence sounds like you don't want a Mud Terrain???? The KM2 was discontinued quite a while back, the KM3 is the current MT. The KO2 was their All Terrain, but this is currently being phased out as the new KO3 have replaced it, but is only...

    Tax Exempt, modifications question

This is what I mean, hence why it is a self declaration.... you may see it one way, but someone else may see it another. And there isn't really any way to tell if either is right or not or if there is a better answer. As for adding power steering, well you can (or could) buy a system for a...

    Tax Exempt, modifications question

Firstly, I bet you cannot find anywhere that says leaf to coil is not allowed. Just as you won't find anything saying coil to air bag isn't either. It is all "generic" advice, as there are too many vehicles and modifications to cover off specific examples. However, to get the logbook changed...

    Tax Exempt, modifications question

The guidance is all super clear in the dot gov site. It is also a self declaration process. So the only view to consider is yours. As you have to sign the each and every year to say it is compliant.

There is no points system for historic status.

    Anti Roll Bar disconnect

I agree, with enough travel any ARB can become a restriction. Or would need some relocation brackets. Although ACE is designed to allow more travel than a regular ARB, so its limits are different. A bit like the Toyota KDSS system offers impressive travel, even compared to having no ARB's...

    Anti Roll Bar disconnect

What do you mean by compliance and how is ACE impacting this? Curious to see what mods you are proposing for more droop. My guess is ACE isn't currently the limiting factor.

    Anti Roll Bar disconnect

Indeed, the D3 is quite nice, but somewhat of a barge in the corners. The Range Rover Sport on the same platform came standard with the next Gen ACE system on the V8 models (diesel & petrol), but was optional on the V6 diesel. And never offered on the D3 or D4. I'm sure some boffin could get it...

    Anti Roll Bar disconnect

It is. It is a very good system and a shame it wasn't used on other vehicles like the p38 Range Rover or Defender. Although it was used in the RRS L320 under a different name and still exists on newer full size models today. Without knowing what the op is doing or their setup, it could be a...

    Anti Roll Bar disconnect

Surely ACE should give you loads of flex off road. Are you 100% sure it is ACE limiting flex? Have you tested this on a high lift?

    Engine swap ideas

£3k is certainly enough to have a good crack at an engine swap. Now don't get me wrong, Tdi's are nice engines. But they are old these days and rather unrefined. A Td5 or M57 is a better bet. I would think an M57 is out of budget, but a Td5 might not be. Or there is still a lot to be said...

    Engine swap ideas

That looks like a 19j 2.5TD (officially called a Diesel Turbo). They make 89hp stock. They share the same block with the Tdi engines (and the 2.25 engines from the Series). This was the first turbo engine of this type and in its day was a world beater. They are nice engines, but do not like to...

    Engine swap ideas

Not really, 107bhp for a Defender 200Tdi and 111 in a Disco. claimed to be down to the different intake manifold. But I bet nobody can tell this from the drivers seat. 300Tdi is also 111bhp. And same torque as the 200Tdi Disco. The 300 is really just a "productionised" version of the 200Tdi that...

    Towing w/ 2015 D4

Are you in the UK? The Disco has a 3.5t (3500kg) tow rating. So as long as the trailer and whatever is on the trailer (aka the boat) weigh less than 3.5t, it should be fine. There will be a nose weight that is applied to the toe ball, which then counts as payload on the towing vehicle. I don't...

    Tow Rope/cable

Those loops are points to attach a break away cable. They aren't rated for towing or recovery as far as I know. I would use the tow ball. And for competition use such as RTV trials the towball would be more than sufficient and safe in the eyes of the Motorsport governing body MSUK. Where...

    Tow Rope/cable

What tow ball do you have and how is it fitted? By and large most UK spec towballs fitted to Land Rovers are more than strong enough for recovery. And for "towing a friends car off the side of the road" the towball would generally be ideal. If towing on the road a tow bar can be very useful...

205/65R15 good to go on Freelander ?

Check the centre bore is the same too, if bigger on the Honda you can use a spigot ring to space it down. But if it is smaller the rims won't fit. Any reason why you'd want CRV rims anyway? Seems a very odd choice. And tyres that small will make the Freelander look like it is on casters. I'm...

    Hifly Tyres 7.5r16 ?

Ok, sadly the choice keeps getting less and less in the UK. Although mainland Europe gets much better choice including 7.00 size. I quite like the XZL, a good strong tyre and ideal for laning. But some surfaces they don't work so well on. For £170/tyre I'd say go for these instead...

    Freelander 2 remap

They probably do this with the auto too. In fact most car makers have been doing this since the 1990s.... If there are people mapping the manual FL2, then chances are, plenty of people have had them mapped without issue.
