Welcome Aboard :) I'd be careful about changing the engine from a POV of originality affecting the value of the thing - but it is your car, so ... Both the 200 and 300 Tdi are eminently tunable.. The VM's didn't have a lot more power according to both Wikipedia and this:-...

The grease-able ones are essential IMO - the others are just a money making racket for the parts suppliers.. :rolleyes: It's also worth the minimal extra cost for genuine GKN joints.. Cleanliness is next to godliness, so provided you grease them regularly, with a clean gun, and clean nipples...

+1 - Always is. Either one is missing and the return flow is through another circuit where it creates all sorts of nonsense - or it is an extra path, as tottot says in post #17 ..
