    Disco 1 New car judder...

Yep, had both of these happen too! :( And the rear prop front flange too .. came loose - though they may have been on SWMBO's D1 ? o_O Bl@@dy LR, you'd have thought they could design something marginally better :D

    Wanted 200tdi alternator Scotchland

FFS! I've had all sorts of issues with regs, quite recently - fried the MFU in my D1 - think electric chair fried :mad: - found the voltage up at 19.4V...:eek::eek: ( shamelessly copied from another post by me on a similar subject .. ) Mid ulster rotating electrics have the spares...

    Wanted 200tdi alternator Scotchland

What I did when a coil let go in SWMBO's, was, buy a cheapo off the bay - IIRC was a NAPA one, about £90, and then fitted a proper Hitachi reg to it, to make sure it wasn't frying the MFU...  Some cheapo's in the link in post #7 :)

    Wanted 200tdi alternator Scotchland

£220? he's having a laugh, but it's not funny - worth a phone call ? ask for a lot of discount !! If you have an old one, easy enough to rebuild - tis what I do to mine now - got fed up with them being either broken from new, or delivered in bits :mad: A127 is a very common alt -...

    Wanted 200tdi alternator Scotchland

Need help re: 1972 Land Rover Series III!

I'm not sure about the wheel colour - should really be limestone, but it's not mine so...;) I'd just drive it - see how you get on - see if you want free wheeling hubs or an overdrive...

Disco 4 (LR4) Will the Discovery 4 achieve classic status?

Another No - Everything with that quantity of electronic junk in it is going to reach the point of uneconomic repair way sooner than any 90/110/RRC/D1 ...

Need help re: 1972 Land Rover Series III!

^^^ this :). Overdrive will give it slightly longer legs, but not by as much as you'd expect - there's not really enough power - but it will make cruising at reasonable speeds (50/60) a lot more pleasant.. Free wheeling hubs on the front axle will also improve its get up and go - from the...

    Shocking, rear shock, shock

Not doubting you.. :) It was very unusual to me though, as, having driven coil and air sprung LR's over a million miles, I'd never experienced or even heard of such a failure ... and no desire to experience it again either  Lack of maintenance will cause all sorts of nasty things to...

    Shocking, rear shock, shock

It was . Somewhat unexpected too . Took a bit of controlling with one leg "unconstrained", so to speak o_O.. I'm only glad I was sufficiently alert to prevent a mess.

    Shocking, rear shock, shock

Had the same failure on a newish Terrafirma shock - same location too on my D1   IIRC it was just out of the two year warranty :mad: But... it went towing a heavy trailer round a corner - to say that the handling became "interesting" doesn't really do the situation justice...

    New freelander owner

Welcome Aboard :) Won't a LR main stealer tell you the code for free ? ( with appropriate proof of ownership etc. ..)

Disco 4 (LR4) Uneven Suspension Height

As the 2 posts above, check your battery, and do so properly - search on here - make sure your alternator is up to snuff too - very complex electronics do not like varying voltages.. You can buy a proper battery tester like the Topdon BT50 for ~£50 - worth it all day long IMHO. :) And...

    Stick orTwist

As above - way better the devil you know. Always, no exception.. :) No electronics to muck about with and chase for a week or three, so, definitely stick with it..

    Hello to all

Welcome Aboard :) +1 on the pics ;);)
  18. Disco1BFG

    So, here it is.

This is none of my business, but I'm not sure how the figures stack up.. 54K for the new one, less 18.5 for the old leaves 35.5.. so then 340 per month for 36 months pays them £12240 - don't see how that works as a purchase ? - or is it a lease with an option to purchase fee at the end ? If it...
