I can't remove the lock barrel. Luckily i do have the key for this lock - so i have pushed the pin in a fair way, turned the lock to position 1. I was hoping the barrel would then come out, but it doesn't seem to want to move. What I am doing wrong?

p.s. can someone look at the attached photo and confirm which gearbox that layshaft comes from (II or III)? I need to be certain which it is if i do need to buy a replacement (part no 264250 i think for II). Many thanks

That's a really good shout. On investigation, i think you can see in the photos: 1) the spot where the inner pin should be (and is no longer, so is likely as you suggest to be the cause of the gouge) 2) the outer pin is now misshaped, so i cannot ease the washer off. Can this be fixed? Can i...

In the end, i have found a second hand bulkhead from someone local, and it just needs a bit of work on it to make it OK.

and when i took the shaft apart, i found the bush had broken in two (which i believe is a common issue), and there was a gouge mark where some grit had gone in. I don't know whether this would have contributed to the rattle from the gearbox i heard, in 1st/2nd.

thanks for reply. You suggestion helped: rather than pulling the bearing off, i pushed the shaft off with a small press, after a bit more heat. i will go look at layshaft now. cheers

The id pressed into the side of the main gearbox says S 25104156 D. I can't work out from this whether this is the original gearbox or a newer replacement. Can't find a website that tells me.
