Leave the carpets in but get rid of the thick layer of sponge underlay/sound absorbing mat - it just holds water. The carpet is pretty good for not holding water especially if there is a small drain hole or two in the floor. Drill a couple, rustproof the whole floorpan and put the carpet back...

Snorkel went on last week - t'morrow it's going in for it's new springs and shocks. Hopefully it will be a simple job - I've been soaking the old rusty bolts in penetrating oil for a fortnight.
