    Bolt removal - advice required

If you get a decent sized nut and just fill it with weld you shouldnt have an issue, the heat alone will probably do half the job. I have had em welded on at a cack angle and its still came loose.

    Bolt removal - advice required

I would take care with using acetone due to the rubber boot below it.

    Bolt removal - advice required

Well nearly all :) I will be honest I can weld but cant see how you could get into there to weld onto the bolt. There was also the rubber boot quite close. Maybe its just the picture but I cant see much other than a hole.... I reckon you will risk welding to the plate rather than the bolt.

    New MOT regs re diesels?

Exactly and that's why we need the noddy guidance...... "please make sure you use the door on the way out....... walking through the wall tends to hurt"

    New MOT regs re diesels?

That's my thinking, for older diesels they would tend to fail the MOT on emissions. They used to say, take it out for 5 mins "drive it like you stole it", then it would pass.

    New MOT regs re diesels?

Forget it they need to rev/run to pass emissions usually anyway this is just covering them, " please don't fall down the toilet"

Series 3 New fuel tank in

It would take a hell of a lot to puncture and it should be protected by the chassis/other elements in the main part. I guess metal was probably cheaper back then.

Why were the tanks not Plastic ? Just curious some late 70's cars had plastic tanks and they are still going strong.
