Pinched flywheel incase flywheel on donor engine is toast, other wise complete, starter, alternator and viscous fan. Care taken to seal off inlet manifold, rocker cover breather pipe, fuel pipes, vacuum pump and flywheel bolts screwed back in
I am the brother of 'Pillar',
We have a chain hoist we use for lifting engines etc, with a bit of effort I reckon we could lift it up and swing it in the back safely, if this sounds good then I suppose first come first served - dark skies gets first dibs, pm if interested or not
Knew I missed something, I have a D1 300tdi pas box in unkown condition, I wondered if the internals would fit in my box, before I pull it apart and find out the hard way
As title says, I have got my steering box removed and apart as bottom dust seal was in pieces, (had done its job, box was full of oil and not leaking), and the worm shaft has worn through the case hardening in the straight ahead position, and the 'wheel' that it turns against is pretty worn all...
If the pumps are plumbed into a t piece, with only one pumping it will pump it back through the other pump and back into the bottle, either make the other pump work (wire it up so they come on together) or do away with the t piece so the working pump just does the front screen
Unless the whole axle is badly corroded don't go replacing it, you know the condition of your one and has had no problems for the time tou been driving it - in theory.
Drain the oil, cut off the old pan and weld on a replacement, take the diff out and block axle tubes to stop grinding crap...
As said make sure port you're doing has valve shut, and hack it all out with screwdriver/rag/brake cleaner/petrol/diesel and then get an airline/hoover down to the valve end and give it a good blow out, its only manky exhaust gunge, just make sure there's no bits of wire from wire brushes down...
You don't want to be bead/sand blasting stressed steel items like wheels, as you remove the surface tension in the material and will be more likely to fatigue and crack.
Who's going and what are you hoping to buy that you sort of need now, but hopefully will be cheaper at the show, then you don't find one or the're all too expensive, come home without it, then panic more and have to order it online anyway?
Been there done that.
