Mines a 95 and original . I'm not too bothered at the moment as I'm enjoying it. I've also an 88 but it's a triggers broom so no good for the US market. If I got silly money for the 95, I could do a lovely nut and bot rebuild of the 88.

I've all led lights except headlights. They are a great upgrade in my opinion. I'd like to get headlights done but can't justify the expense. Will probably go for wipac crystal lamps with nightbreakers and a relay switched feed.

As said, mist coats to start with. Are you base coat then lacquered? If so, don't lave too long between top coat and lacquer.

Being an 86, you will probably have to repair/ replace the bearers for the tub where they sit on the chassis rails. It really depends if your stopping at a chassis change or doing a complete rebuild. If you're building, it's so much easier and better to strip it completely and change rusty bolts...
