Sounds like the fuel pump. Of you put the ignition to the on position but don' crank you will hear it for 20 secs and then it will stop. They can be quite noisy, but they get worse before they break

a few things to check. Have a look at the red plug on the ecu and check for oil. Does your fuel pump sou d any different? my td5 will start and rev when the pump.is dying but has no power and is rough as feck when trying to drive it
