Sorted guys thx, turned out the so called mechanic that came out to try and get me going had not put the fuel pipes back on in correct order so the fuel was just being pumped straight back in the tank! So thanks for the pics lads as once i studied them i realised what was wrong thx again :)

Thanks where did you get the fuel system picture from so I can look in more detail mate? And what type of diagnostics tool do you have?

But would the fuel pressure regulator on the HP pump completely stop the engine from starting? I am virtually at my wits end god bless range rovers lol.;)

Hi the high pressure pump is a reconditioned one, and no unfortunately I don't have a diagnostic tool for the pressure in the fuel rail but the fuel is not even getting to the fuel rail? thx for your reply
