P38A ABS / TC fault appeared after sitting idle for 3 weeks

It •IS* a new (ish <1 year) battery... Alternator charges at 13.8V so upping its VR to give 14+ -mind you would have to run it for a bit. I have a 'Smart' charger bur it seems to only ever charge to 12V (or 12.4V). Is the sensor connection in around the EAS gubbins on the NSF ?

    P38A Alternator upgrade 4.6 Gems

Finally, getting around to this amidst a slew of other jobs. Had a wee look at the replacement VR yesterday and the protruding thin metal thing scared me a little. Sorry to be a pain but was it a screw off/on job or do I need to break out the soldering iron ? Thanks again Bob

P38A ABS / TC fault appeared after sitting idle for 3 weeks

If low voltage has caused this, how does one clear it ? I’ve had the battery on charge for a couple Of days, it’s still only giving back a little over 12V but it isn’t drastically ‘low’. nanocom doesn’t seem to want to play ball

P38A ABS / TC fault appeared after sitting idle for 3 weeks

that would do a straight abs issue, this is TC related too… -and, I tried that ! Nanocom can’t seem to clear the fault -or it keeps recurring

P38A EAS what am I missing?

Not necessarily, the numbers are arbitrary to an extent are they not ? It ‘thinks’ it’s at the right height (the numbers are where they should be) but this doesnt actually correspond to the actual height. I need to do mine too and I think it’s a case of getting the wood blocks out. -of course...

P38A ABS / TC fault appeared after sitting idle for 3 weeks

Hi again, -and I’m sorry, but this is twisting my melon… Got car back from garage but it’s been sitting as I’m waiting on a re-manufactured vcu. Most things were fine before she sat up but now, after 3 or so weeks, she appears to have developed a TC / ABS fault. Nanocom suggests that the...

P38A EAS what am I missing?

No idea, but I feel your pain… Could it be a calibration issue ?

P38A Arghhhh - footwell sound deadening soaking

did you have to drain the coolant to do this ? No biggie as was going change the rad hoses and water pump anyway

P38A Arghhhh - footwell sound deadening soaking

just bypass the heater matrix ? Might work as a temp fix…

P38A Arghhhh - footwell sound deadening soaking

That would all explain the coolant loss ! Someone has done it previously as the pipe is cut and ‘handy’ holes drilled in plastics. Need a long driver, I don’t suppose you happen to know the size of the head ?

P38A Arghhhh - footwell sound deadening soaking

I was kinda dreading that… I may have to prioritise the VCU, one corner of EAS playing up and an ABS sensor going ‘open circuit’ while sitting idle for 3 weeks (Low voltage perhaps ?) as she’s due her MOT and we’ve some trips pending -assuming I can get the problems fixed !

P38A Arghhhh - footwell sound deadening soaking

Hi again, I’ve a couple of pressing jobs to do on the P38 and I happened to lift the carpet in the drivers footwell to find the foam sound deadening was absolutely soaked. it’s been dry here forever so I’ve no idea how long it’s been wet or from where. I’m not even convinced it’s water -it...

P38A Is it time to jump to LPG ? (4.6l Gems)

On balance, I’ve decided to leave it for now… I’ve just found I’ve more pressing expenses on the old girl to attend to. The impending scarcity of the gas and the upfront expense being the main concerns. Thanks again for all the insight :)

P38A Is it time to jump to LPG ? (4.6l Gems)

Well, there are still a fair few around Glasgow but, as you say, it looks like it’s days may be numbered…. And there’s no saying it will continue to be taxed at a lower rate or that petrol will remain this high in the long term… maybe I just need to sit on my hands and swallow the £200 for a...

P38A Is it time to jump to LPG ? (4.6l Gems)

So.... with petrol rapidly approaching £2 per litre and LPG around £0.80 is the time right now to bite the bullet and opt for an LPG conversion ? I've a late '97 4.6L Gems which returns between 13 and 24 mpg. The petrol prices alone are emptying my wallet and the 'payback' for an LPG conversion...
