The older Outlander switches to ICE if you switch too many things on or go too fast but the later 2.4 engine version can run full electric at higher speeds.

Mine used to do that regularly and diagnostics always said battery disconnect module. Cleaning the rusty nut seemed to clear it.

With all the EVs around I'm sure it will become a thing.

Do they not immerse EV's in a water tank to stop them reigniting?

I wouldn't even consider an older PHEV that is likely to need a new battery soon due to the cost of a replacement. Mind you I wouldn't condsider electric at all unless it was free for the same reason :)

As it already has a charging system that drives the motor and charges the battery I don't see what you would gain?

LR feature or fault? I suspect it's a fault. :) Got check main beam warning so changed bulb and still dead. Turned the key off and took it out and engine still running. Seems I can only turn the engine off with the lights off or on dipped beam. Looks like I'm gonna be checking my wiring.
