    Opinion please

As I recall I propped the back roughly in position on an axle stand and got the front bolts in loosely to stop it twisting so easily when I did the back. First time when I had it the wrong side of the chassis section I started with the back and the front kept dropping off the stand and twisting...

    Air suspension

You only empty your wallet and tear your hair out without diagnostics? What am I doing wrong?

    Opinion please

When fitting, remember the brackets go outboard of the chassis ones, if you start inboard of one bracket then the other one will be too far out to bolt up and be secure. Made that mistake with the first one myself!

    Opinion please

Brackets are welded to the step, holes in the bracket line up with the holes in the chassis brace plates. Don't affect the side moulding at all. Think it was a single 10mm bolt at the back and 2 8mm ones at the front. Ones that came with it looked a bit weedy so I fitted stainless ones with...

    P38A Head gasket advice needed

This is one of Otto's freshly skimmed heads. Coolant passages are the slightly curved slots at the ends, oil passes up the stud / bolt holes to the rocker gear IIRC, there isn't a lot of oil goes up there. Most common issue is coolant oassage failure through to an end cylinder. Otto instead had...

    P38 EAS Compressor Seal Supplier's

That would be a +1 from me for @kurtjohnson10 for EAS stuff. Excellent kit that transformed Otto's troublesome compressor.

    Opinion please

We got a set of these for Otto, they work fine and make it a lot easier getting in and out for my wife (2 replacement hips, 5 blown lumbar discs). They were a bit of a pig to fit, prop one end, loose bolt the other, then do the first with bolts, then tighten the second end fully. Powder coat...

P38 Parts looking for new home - free

If it was a top tailgate section I'd snap your hand off! Otto's is pretty sad. But the bottom one is OK on him. Hope you get takers for it all.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Took him off charge yesterday (put on charge the day before as sat covered for 6 weeks). Started him, first turn of the key, worked almost straight away through all suspension heights. Put the interior vacuum fit mirror back on. Haven't actually used him in about 2 months due to house move plus...

    P38 Coolant - confused.com...!

If you can, jack up the right front corner, helps the air to get to the bleed corner of the radiator. Pointing uphill but across a slope is helpful too. Sometimes running it with the cap off and blocking / releasing the bleed hose hole in the reservoir neck helps it to get flowing through...

P38 4.0V8 Thor fault codes P0174&P0171 Help Needed

Don't junk your old MAF - I cleaned Otto's one very effectively. Took it out of the trunking and took all the screens / etc off it. Stood it on the plenum end in a dish, having used cotton wool to plug the 4 exit holes from the actual sensor section. Carefully filled the sensor tube to the brim...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Well, you'd never expect it of a P38 would you? Been busy with other stuff all day, finally got to looking at Otto this evening. Popped the bonnet, took off 2 and 4, put in spare plugs and earthed them on the plenum. unlocked again, ign 2, everything whirs and pumps as far as I can tell, another...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Thanks. Broken RR and ineffective bike is not helpful at this juncture. Taken a look at RAVE, I think my simplest plan is to drag out a couple of spare spark plugs, put them on 2 easily reached leads and crank to see if spark is good. Then repeat after swapping over the ignition and fuel pump...

Fingers crossed not, will start tomorrow by checking for fuel flow through with ignition on, and if none / reduced then check fuse and wiring. After dropping the budgered fork leg off the Honda to the shop to sort. I've run out of tools and time for it at the moment.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Did about 60 mile triangular trip, heavily laden to the new place, then a nice steady waft to the garden centre for lunch and pick up the new garden furniture set. Good waft home, ready to squeeze a few more bits in to do a second run to the new place. Had a couple of hours for food and rest...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Yesterday we took a heavily laden trip to our new place, and will probably take 2 loads over at times tomorrow as well. He sounds so quiet and refined now. However the paranoid me was picking up a slight speed related resonance / vibration through the floorpan, so I am guessing once the move is...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Manky and much abused ex-trade smoker Mk3 Escort I had decades ago had that sort of issue. Starter permanently engaged. When I got the starter off and stripped it, the piggyback engagement relay had fused shut, holding the engaging lever in and the main current feed live all the time. Secondhand...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Apparently Otto is much more waftily quiet with the new zorst, it was a pain to fit and in consequence was well worth the money compared to trying to do it myself, especially with this crook shoulder. I look forward to finding out how much quieter he is tomorrow.

Uncovered him and took the dehumidifier out, ready to go for his new half exhaust tomorrow. SWMBO taking him as I am still out of commission from a chest infection. Actually passed out this morning while trying to ring in sick, now have a very sore shoulder to go with the other issues, but...
