Latest update: heads skimmed, new gaskets fitted, everything rebuilt. No clouds. Turned the key, started but ran dog at idle. Gave it a very short run and it was still poo. Putting the HT leads onto the coil pack correctly sorted that out, but.... Its still running rough at idle. Not as bad...

I've got 6 and 12 point sockets. I never use the 12's on anything tight. Lesson learned many years ago.

Update: So the rocker covers were removed and the filth was cleaned out. I couldn't believe the amount of crap lurking in there. The breather pipes stood no chance. The little plastic xmas tree thingy - could've replaced that with a cork it was that gummed up. Anyways, valley gasket...

Are rocker covers painted? Mine are shedding something that could have, once upon a time, been paint. If they're cleaned off best paint to use to make them Gucci again?
