Discovered plug 202. Discovered plug 202 was very poorly. Surgically removed plug and soldered / heat shrunk all wires (OBD socket now working :o). Removed 3m of co-axial cable from a previous car phone install. Removed 4m of 2-core mains cable that had been used for something once upon a time.

Sadly, my young chap is currently at the RR doctor's for some petrol bypass surgery. He'd had it before and that seemed to go OK but time has taken its toll and the surgery needs re-doing. As soon as I get him back, I'll check his port, and plugs, and everything else I need to do......

I did, I did, I bloody did!! Promise... Is it possible to buy OBD sockets 'new' as a kit maybe? (Found and ordered one). I checked (and changed for good measure) the fuse and all's well there but still nothing at the socket end. I am going to try and follow the wiring back from the socket too...

Hi Datatek, its a '96 so no seat airbags. Think the steering wheel airbag may be at fault as I'm pretty sure someone's had the wheel off (not centred when the wheels are; indicators self-cancel - too early one way, too late the other, and the instrument binnacle doesn't marry up with dash top)...

Swapped all relays for resistor version from Beal. No probs arising and red LED seems to have finally gone out. Not sure if that's what helped as I also installed an extra earth from the alternator body as per Javars' post the other day.

Installed extra earth cable as per Javars, swapped all green relays for similar bought from Beal.org.uk. Just noticed tonight that the red LED appears to have finally disappeared and for the first time in days, RR had enough juice left in battery to start car having been left still for a day...

Just pulled 2 of mine and the diagram clearly shows a resistor on the diagram, not an induction coil or diode.

Alternator swapped out, no more noise. Weirdly the noise stopped as the alternator moved as I removed it. May be a loose connection internally. Refurb time.
