Freelander 2 (LR2) New prop shaft noise - alignment?

Hi Nodge, the only answer to that is twofold (though one might be me talking through my rear end) in that when the shaft wasn't installed there were no noises. I had previously, and briefly, installed an aftermarket one that was simply awful whilst driving. The new one (if its the culprit)...

Freelander 2 (LR2) New prop shaft noise - alignment?

Hi all, I've just installed a new (OEM) prop shaft onto my vehicle. I've been running in 2WD for a couple of weeks but have finally gotten round to putting the new one in place. But now there's a noise, most obvious if just going downhill with no accelerator but also when slowing down as per...

Freelander 2 (LR2) CV shaft issue

Replacement shaft was correct length. Original replacement was a BG Automotive brand (too long), the replacement replacement was Apec branded. From my original I measure 522mm (+/_ 1mm) from the inboard end of the shaft to the centre of the carrier bearing. Thanks for your help Nodge / GrumpyGel

Freelander 2 (LR2) Baffling (to me!) front Half-shaft/Axle Length Mystery! Too short, twice???

Replacement arrived and is the correct length. First one was branded BG Automotive and the second, correct length, one was Apec branded. I measured the original and on the car and got a measurement of 522mm (+/- 1mm) from the end of the shaft (inboard end) to the centre of the support bearing.

I've got the exact same problem. Hopefully the replacement for the replacement (arriving tomorrow) will be the right one

Freelander 2 (LR2) CV shaft issue

Good evening all. I've got an issue replacing the RH drive shaft/CV shaft on my FL2. I'm replacing the whole thing but I've got an issue that mayor may not be resolved tomorrow. Leaving aside the reliabilty/false economy of using 3rd party parts, here's the issue: The replacement part fits but...

Freelander 2 (LR2) Replacement ball joint

Hi all, whilst swapping onw thing I've managed to mangle the threads on the wishbone ball joint on my FL2. I've seen Euro Parts selling just the ball joint (with nuts and bolts) instaed of the whole wishbone, on which originally the ball joint is riveted in place. Anyone used these or know if...

    Seat covers

Hi, can anyone recommend any seat covers for FL2? I'm looking for the stretchy type that end up looking fitted (for want of a better description). Had a set previously from Aldi or Lidl but they got tired and now I can't seem to find any that fit as well. I've tried 2 sets (one in the...

Noise gone but prop shaft queries abound

Good afternoon all. I posted a thread previously about a whirring/mechanical noise whilst driving that disappeared when cruising along nicely. I've finally found the time to start to put the tools to work and I've removed the prop shaft. The noise I was experiencing has gone but now many...

Noise under acceleration and workshop manual question

Nodge68, thanks for that. I'll have to get under and around and see if anything shouts out. I'll have a butchers for the other manual 👍

Noise under acceleration and workshop manual question

Good morning all. My first foray into the world of all things Freelander 2 following a baptism of fire as the owner of a P38. It all ended in tears :) I've now got a 2009 GS diesel. Happy(er) days! My questions of the day however are thus: I have a noise happening when I drive and the revs...

    For Sale Thule 751 Feet

Hi, sadly, due to the unfortunate demise of my P38 at the tender age of 23, I've had to get a new vehicle. So, I have for sale a set of 4 Thule lockable feet that will fit Thule roof bars. There are 2 keys, but you'll need to supply your own bars. I'm after £40 (collected) or I'll post them...

    P38A So long, farewell...

..auf wiedersehen, goodbye. Sadly the time has come where the end of my tether has been reached and I've switched allegiances. I would like to extend my thanks to all of you for your help, and perhaps more importantly your wit, over the last few years. Unfortunately my bank balance has failed...

Thanks both. Don't know what my dad thinks he's doing this morning, but he's wrong :D:D

P38A Brake bleed, vacuum type pump

Hi all, can the brakes be bled (a la RAVE description/method) using one of those vacuum pump type bleed kits - where you apply a vacuum direct to the bleed point - or does it have to be a pedal-pumped operation?

P38A 'O' Rings tip and thanks..

Evening all, firstly, a big thanks to Druim for his pictorial 'How To' on changing the heater 'O' rings. Did mine with an ever so slight deviation. Secondly, my tip: remove the screw and swap it for one about 5mm or so longer (25mm-ish). I spent an inordinate amount of time getting the hoses...

    P38A Immobiliser gone all fussy

Hi all, my 1996 4.0 has suddenly got all immobilser fussy. I used to be able to open the car and start the engine no matter how much time had elapsed since the immobiliser was operated. Now it seems that any longer than the time to think "I wonder if it will start" and I have to re-zap (not...
