Quite common for that wire to be on starter solenoid but no idea if your vehicle was.

You may have to contact speedi sleeve / NSK as the land is not very deep and the sleeves seem to be a proportion in length to diameter. ie may be too deep. Try contacting bearing boys as they stock speedi sleeve parts

Your better off doing brakes on the vehicle as you can apply the brake to centralise the shoes

Try linking the solenoid activating contact to the battery lead that will prove the solenoid is good or bad. If that works put a a test lamp or meter onto the activating contact and see if you get 12V when ignition turned to start position.

Ends of brake linings top and bottom take a file to them to chamfer the edge reduces contact at that point. Also worth checking they are not binding on the edges around the radius a bit of chalk on the outer edge then refit drum and see if it wears of as soon as you rotate them. Rust some times...

If you deflate the tyre you should be able to push a tubed valve inwards. Looks tubed to me as I cannot see an outer lip.

Have you chamfered the leading edges of the brake shoes? Have you fitted the correct shape cam to the adjuster? Looks like a SWB one to me.

Is there any pressurised oilway through a 2.25 Petrol head gasket always thought oil supply was by Banjo on back of head and only the returns went through the gasket ie down pushrod holes?

Twin adjusters on brake plates so should not matter from what I can see but if you place one on a hub and look at the adjusters they should push shoe out so that adjuster edge is being applied by the drum when travelling forwards. The grease gets as thin as the oil when driving have grease in mine usually top up with some oil as easier to add when checking level. Never had and issue with top pin running dry.

Is that a gauze filter in the hole?

If you remove the selector shaft cover then take the detents out between the selector shafts you shoud be able to select two gears [2nd pic]. get a small magnetic pickup about 7mm diameter to remove the balls from the selector springs so that they do not drop inside your gear box one centre one...

What axle is it you are after rear SWB or LWB Rover I assume. I have a mate at Wingate who may have one let me know which your afer and I will message him.

I have heard of people straightening axle by applying a weld , I would be concrened with that amount to weld on the tube that it may distort the casing.
