I've have used Brookland Landrover and find them very good. On offs from ebay, always shop around for deals tho.

Could be water somewhere or a bad earth! You would expect the water to disperse after a week or so especially if it's been getting up to temperature. Sounds like and electrical problem to me.

And you would be foolish not to replace the clutch on the replacement gearbox so it's gonna be quite expensive as well. Personally I'd just get the clutch done and keep what you have.

Keep it and fix the clutch. It's going to be cheaper to fix than replace! You could fit an auto but it's quite a job to do.

If its the same length and has the correct splines then try it. Fit it up and with the wheel on try turning it slowly by hand to make sure it's not catching, try it with the wheel at full positive and negative lock.

Who has a faulty gearbox?

You need a screwdriver and a lot lot of patience. You need to take the cover of the dash panel unclip the connectors for the rear wipers then remove the upper shroud to get to the two screws at the back of the dash and undo two screws at the front. Unclip the connectors. All colour coded and...
