Because my old belt tensioner had seized, this was found out when FIP replaced last week , the belt had stretched thus causing the replacement tensioner to jump to slack position every time the engine was stopped so new belt fitted today and all is good :)

Got the old gal back as promised today. Replacement FIP fitted and no more diesel leaks( Oh please gods of Land Rover heed my prayer). The old one had been messed with, there was no woodruff key on end of shaft when old one taken off

The guy who owned the P38 I had the engine out of was a welder and bit of a bodger. I wonder if he'd tried some kind of repair in the past and now its finally let go?. I'm fortunate I am getting a known good replacement and all done at mates rates.

No first thing that was checked. You can see the diesel bubbling out of the pump.

The FIP was taken off so they could all be changed

Hoping to have the old gal back today from having FIP gaskets done but there is a problem. They couldn't stop it from leaking along the body. On and off 3 times and still leaks. Looks like hair line fracture in the FIP body. It was noticed some one had worked on it before as the tamper bolt in...

Had a smell of diesel for a few days now but couldn't see where it was coming from til this morning. Twas coming out of the middle of the FIP. Took it to Shaun's my local P38 mechanic and parts supplier. He cleaned everything up and confirmed my fears, it was leaking from the middle joint. No...
