Is that one of those angle brackets? if so they are ment to go along one edge of the battery and then the rods go at a diagonal across the ends to locate near the bottom corner on opposite side to bar. My Ninety's battery box is set up like this.

The foam rubber seal between box and bulkhead can be an issue. If rotted away heat escapes back into engine bay.

With the stub axle off you just need a seal extractor or a big screw driver.

I drive both a Ninety and a Series 3 and have to say little difference in brake pedal pressure. OP does not say what wheelbase he has but if SWB a switch to LWB front brake units would help. Also it is just a nut and bolt job.

It is the actual hose that does not fit, wrong thread , rear hose is shorter. Yes I could just change the fittings but to make any sense would have to change the lot and that might as well be the pipes as well, a fair old job that is just not needed. Pipe from caliper to swivel housing...

There are folk out there who restore wire spoke steering wheels, the covering removed from the metal and then recast in the mold. How much I don't know.

I think those wheels may well have come from a heavy load trailer, something like a mobile sheep dip unit.
