    2.25 petrol rough idle

When did the rough idling start?

    2.25 petrol rough idle

The distributor drive dog can only be there to get the height right? Why it's rotated is interesting, but as you say, doesn't matter. There isn't anyone watching that would stop 'a friend' from putting the distributor roughly where the body looks right (and will adjust without fouling) and...

    2.25 petrol rough idle

I don't see any value in removing the camshaft. When did this idle roughness actually start?

    Defender TD5 - crank bit won’t start

Having just read the subject of the link provided by @sierrafery I'd be straight out looking at the looms for damage. If the fuel pump runs with the relay out it points to a short somewhere.

    Defender TD5 - crank bit won’t start

Odd. While you're waiting, are there any similar relays you can swap to see what happens?

    Td5 defender vibration

I think you're saying that this all started before you did the work - which you did to try and cure it? Because this is speed and not revs related, wheel balance, mud on the inside of the rims, jack each wheel and check it for bumps/roundness/cord failure. Since it's happening at a relatively...

    Defender TD5 - crank bit won’t start

I'll mention my experience on a different car. Main symptom was refusing to start/hiccups/eml. Diagnostics pointed to the fuel relay. Fuel pump was running exactly as it should. Swapping similar relays, same fault. In the end I took apart every connection between the relay and ecu - 2002 car...

    Td5 defender vibration

I'd be checking the UJs for play. And that you've got all the pshaft bolts tight - we're all fallible.

    Tow Rope/cable

Another lesson, the site software removes swear words. Swearing outside 'Anything goes' is not good form. Inside AG it's a different matter and you sound like you might be good value. (You'll have to ask nicely how to get around the filters though).

    Tow Rope/cable

Think they're for the safety/breakaway chain. Never intended to actually be used.

    Gear Lever removal

Sorry for the slow reply - and you've probably discovered the answer. Yes, easy to change. Welding might work. Happened to me away from home, called a friend out with a portable stick welder. Really hard to get a good weld onto the 25mm stub in situ. I got about five miles out of it - with...

Tax + MOT exemption... I'm confused!

As @julianf said, it's build date. This was about five years earlier than first registration for mine. I wonder then if that's why you might get the few days leeway that you mention. It's hardly likely to have been built and transported to the dealer during Christmas week, so call it a...

    A bit has fallen off!!

This'll be JLR's new take on the old wiper nut cap game. Every manufacturer deliberately sends one car out without the cap over the rear wiper arm nut. The owner of that car steals one from a similar model. Thus the baton is passed.

    Rewire 3rd brake light

Sensible and nice to get it working obviously, but my Alfa got an MoT with the high brake light marked as optional - not working in the advisories. Not sure why because that doesn't fit the rule - which is - if you tell the tester it's disconnected he must give you the benefit of the doubt and...

    For Sale/Wanted Rear Defender Axle

It's relatively simple. You turn a front axle around, but because the diff needs to be on the right you also have to flip the axle. That means all the bracketry has to be moved up top etc. The axle end plates have to come off and be rotated to get the caster back where it should be. Looks good...

    For Sale/Wanted Rear Defender Axle

And just by chance I'm going to be selling a 110 front axle converted to rear wheel steer. New brackets etc, diff flipped. End plates rotated for caster. All new bearings, seals, diff rebuilt, callipers. Blasted and sprayed with a full zinc/tar/topcoat system. Mentioned in case you have any...
