    Front hub replacement

Thanks for the advice, what about asking the local garage to loosen it a bit and then carefully drive it home?

    Front hub replacement

Thanks Difflock - had a quick look on youtube and they showed the stake nut being undone with the wheel on and the centre boss of the wheel removed so the 32mm (?) socket went through the centre of the wheel. I've only got 65 kg to stand on the bar with so will try using the trolley jack on the...

    Front hub replacement

Thanks DJ, did you replace them yourself or take it to a garage?

    Front hub replacement

That's good to hear - I've used JGS before and was quite happy with them. I'm going to give my local indy dealer a chance to quote on Monday but unless he comes in with a good price will probably go with JGS and take the plunge to do it myself.

    Front hub replacement

Thanks Peter I'm probably being a bit twitchy and asking too many questions but do either of these look reasonable? LR Trade JGS 4x4 They're both around £65 which is a good deal cheaper than the £150 OEM parts.

    Front hub replacement

I need to replace the front wheel hub on my Disco 2 - it's gone from an "occasional grumble" to a "don't drive me" noise. I've had a search and checked out the Discovery 2 site; biggest challenge seems to be undoing the drive shaft nut, and deciding whether to go for an OEM part or after market...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Decided that I need a new front hub as the existing one is grumbling too loudly to ignore. Went from a little rumble every now and again to a "can't drive it" noise!

    Rear Watts Bushes

Have a look at this Fred - I used OEM parts and have had no problems despite lots of heavy towing.

    Passenger front window stuck down

If you can avoid opening the window until you the time to fix it you stand a better chance of getting the regulator mechanism welded up before it breaks completely and becomes more difficult to align properly. Failing that it sounds like a new one may be needed.

    Passenger front window stuck down

Glad you got it shut. If it is a mechanical rather than an electrical problem this fred might help when you get round to it. I tried welding mine to repair it but it didn't last (poor welding). On the advice of my local indy garage I ended up replacing the regulator mechanism with a genuine...

    Passenger front window stuck down

Any whirring and clicking from the window regulator mechanism? If so it could be the window lift mechanism that's given up the ghost. When mine went I took the door card off and wedged the window in the up position to get me home: 1. Remove 2 screws securing hand rail to door. 2. Remove...

    Manual TD5, where to begin.

If, when you rock the vehicle from side to side by holding the gutter or roof bars, you hear a clunking / knocking sound the watts linkage could need sorting. Have a look at this fred
