You can check the Watts linkage by grabbing hold of the roof gutter and rocking the car from site to side, if it's the Watts linkage you'll hear it clunking. This link may help :)

Suggest you check the water pump 'P' gasket on the nearside of the engine bay and the rad (particularly at the bottom). Both of those have caused coolant leaks on my disco in the past.

It was quite some time ago that I did mine and I can't remember what the inside looks like. I think I could get it to work one way but the motor wouldn't switch over to cycle to and fro properly - hence going for a replacement unit.

OK; is the locking mechanism on the seats moving at all? Mine just release easily as soon as you give the strap a good tug. The catch was sticky at first but a dosing of WD40 followed by some ordinary general purpose grease sorted it.

Mines looking dodgy too, but hopefully not as bad as yours, might get away with a few coats of Hammerite - it's on the list of things to do

I've got as far as cleaning and scraping the underside all over and have hammerited about three quarters of the chassis etc., just need to get round to finishing the painting before I get the waxoyl gun out.

Yes - Pick up is quicker on acceleration, not sure about fuel consumption as I don't check it. My EGR valve was quite crusted up - I've kept it in case I ever need to re-fit it. It can't be a good thing to re-circulate all that crud back through the engine. A copy of the instructions are here...

Fitted me cruise control switches, works a treat!

It is good form to introduce yourself in the relevant section and read some of the FAQs before asking questions. This helps avoid (but doesn't eliminate) mickey taking. You may find this helps work out what to do with the vacuum pipes :)
