Well, they're claiming this incarnation is so technologically advanced that perhaps one just steps to one side, makes a brew and lets the truck change the wheel for you before texting yer 'ouse to say yer running low on brew bags :D

    Project: The impossible utopia - Freelander S TD4 3 door (2002)

Indeed. Had a good poke about when I had the gearbox out the other week. Nothing of note. But I'm afraid I'm already well and truly down that rabbit hole :D Pulled and cleaned the injectors already and pots 3 and 4 twice! The subsequent leak off test results always showed consistency across all...

Freelander 1 Freelander TD4 Fuel Rail pressure Sensor & Harness TSB

Cheers Phil. PDF downloaded and new overlay harness added to the shopping list ;)

    Project: The impossible utopia - Freelander S TD4 3 door (2002)

Short answer: No but thanks for the heads up. Long answer: Would very much like to get the upgrade in time, though. Had to repair the wires to the fuel rail sensor soon after I bought it after I noticing they had been trapped/severed between the air manifold and block (you can see the rejoined...

Thanks :) Photographs done properly to honour the forum. Well worth doing. I don't rush through things so it really isn't an inconvenience and makes great reference for me. I'm no mechanic so it's good to look back and see if I've made any major errors.

How odd. But then again it was essentailly designed as a tractor. Maybe they never foresaw one lasting long enough for a drivetrain overhaul and saw it as essential to the overall rigidity. The new Defender is indeed a monocoque. Have you inadvertantly spotted a potential fault before LR have...

Cheers Steve. Credit to @Alibro for his virtual help. Bit of an abuse of my climbing gear I'll admit but it got the job done.

Absolutely. I'm sure LZ have no issue with it as it saves their hosting limit and bandwidth or having to increase either as the forum swells. The wider question is user functionality. In my opionon, direct link is best and... that pretty much says it all about thumbnails. :)

Fair enough. Not many on that forum concerned with their data usage, then.

    Project: The impossible utopia - Freelander S TD4 3 door (2002)

Indeed! Was quite a task given the lack of lifting equipment. I thought my need to pull the head at some point to remove the one snapped glow plug was gonna be a big deal but in comparison, it seems a trivial, tinkering job. More images to follow. The teardown was the easy bit! :D

Interesting. Did you go back and edit your posts or adopt a new method from that point? Like you say, we'll never please everyone but a general consensus within this forum would be nice.

Great, thanks for your input. I'll stick with my method for now, then. :)

Timely post for me this Shimsteriom. Given my project thread is gathering quite a selection of images, I was going to post a thread asking for this kind of feedback. I simply host my images and put the direct link in the post. I pondered whether this was appropriate given the auto-download and...

Very similar headlight shape and nudge bar. Be interesting to see if that's an optional part like it is with the FL1. Ground clearance looks no better which is surprising. I guess we'll see how far the air system jacks the thing up. Looking forward to driving one.

Yep but everything you need on RAVE manual (PC only). Haynes are sometimes a bit vague ;) https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/rave-disk-maintenance-manual.260227/

    Help!

Sounds like they haven't a clue what's going on. You'd know if the bleed nipple/screw was leaking as there'd be fluid all over the top of the box. Same for the push fit connector. If the slave was leaking, you'd see fluid dripping out of the bell housing (especially as you're topping it up). If...
