L322 Range Rover l322 gearbox issue

Just make sure it’s a good box. No point paying for a second hand one , fitting it etc only to find it lasts a month and goes bang.

L322 Range Rover l322 gearbox issue

That sounds like how they fail, loss of drive. Either second hand or bite the bullet and have it rebuilt. Then you know it’s a good box and torque converter. That’s the weak bit on the td6. Once sorted there a solid reliable machine.

    2002 TD6 anti freeze

My td6 had a thermostat change and we just flushed the system with hose, then used normal orange OAT, long as it’s flushed then hardly any old stuff about incase it doesn’t like to mix, any will be ok on the td6.

    L322 DIY Full Service

Never heard of lubing hubs, definitely nothing there to pump grease into, unless it’s meaning wire brush and copper grease on front of brake discs to stop wheels seizing on. Tyre rotation is just for even wear. Can’t say iv ever flushed brake fluid, iv topped up after changing calipers etc on...

Range Rover Diesels - Which is the most reliable?

Wasn’t the M57, the dodgy one I think is N57, modern version of the M57 which is cleaner/ better on fuel but more problematic and has a weak chain at the back of the engine. If I got rid of my 4.2 RR, and was looking at any car again, I’d prefer something like x5,7 series etc with the M57, look...

Range Rover Diesels - Which is the most reliable?

Td6 is a very good and strong engine. Just gearbox is a bit weak. However one with a recent rebuilt box would be hard to beat.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Had sticking calipers about a month ago, did check temps other day, rear wheel centres were 16 & 17 degrees and fronts were 18 &19 so brakes and bearings seem to be running fine.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Got track control arms changed the other day and track rod ends today, it’s going in garage Wednesday for Coolant hose change that lives deep in the V of the engine, preventative maintenance. Also past few days heard a odd noise between 20-40mph when driving, almost like when you hear somone...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

How long did it take to change starter? Think mine on my 4.2 is getting bit lazy. Up in Scotland in a week or so, hopefully it will behave itself.

    Parts suppliers are shocking

Same as me, there service kits were decent, pay for OEM and get all filters etc. again back to my post about linked parts at least in service kit you got sump plug, filters etc, bugs me when they sell parts but not new bolts to go with it etc.

    Parts suppliers are shocking

Did have a look online other day their website isn’t great but like you say sometimes it’s easier to ring and speak to somone. If it’s Darwin area it’s probably half hour/45 mins from me so for some parts it’s worth going.

    Parts suppliers are shocking

Used them a few times without issue just sometimes can’t find or see listing for what would be linked parts eg, changing track control arm on a Range Rover, they sell they arm but not the bolts which given the age or corrosion Will possibly need a new one, or changing handbrake/ general brake...

    Parts suppliers are shocking

Exactly what everyone seems to say now, back in the day with John it was the place to go now it’s waste of time.

    Parts suppliers are shocking

Use Advanced factors a lot, Island 4x4 mostly for general parts and suspension and brakes etc, decent range and prices never had issues with either of them two. Recently been using LR parts.net, again choice of cheap and cheerful, britpart etc or OEM or genuine, delivery is day or two, based on...

    P38A Protecting my undercarriage..

On my l322 iv used hot Waxoyl sprayed over them as a top up cans of chain wax, it’s full of anti corrosives and being a grease helps stop squeeze from suspension etc, whenever I’m doing a job under or with a wheel off last bit is a quick brush and spray just to keep the rust off. If using...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

ordered set of front suspension arms, with the intention of changing them today, ended up just doing the curved, rear lower front arm, as the bush had gone so wheel could wobble from side to side, absolutely pain, only just enough room to remove bolt due to body of car, but did come undone east...

    PCV what’s the what

Sure the 4.2 doesn’t have a fuel filter. Iv tried and can’t find any part for it. I did read it’s just a fine mesh over the pump/ sender unit in the tank, a case of leave it then change of it fails.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Had a mk4 mondeo estate and that was huge in the back, then got a v70, 09 plate so built on a similar platform and surprisingly a lot smaller, windows bigger so less height to below load cover and boot didn’t open as high so if you didn’t think you would take a chunk of your head out on the...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

One of my customers said “why do you use a RR why not a estate” my reply was “I need a RR to drive on our local roads, and if a wheel enters a pothole, need 4 wheel drive to get out of it” 🤣.
